fast cardi pattern for 12 month old
|
I am with Bets - KPS has very good patterns for that. They even have a top-down hoodie that is very cute and easy to knit. For a girl, Classic Elite`s Provence is a favorite of mine. Sorry I don`t have links, but you shouldfind them easily on Ravelry.

Joan, Nice Market Bag

Very nice! I have been thinking of market bags for gifts, too -although I do like the supermarket paper bags - I reuse them all (sigh)!

Joan, Nice Market Bag
|
In the old days, before coming to the US, I used to go to the market on Sat. mornings with a big wicker basket or rafia bag that would carry home most of the vegetables and fruits for the week. (So it strikes me as somewhat funny to see this phenomenon played out as a "new thing"...) But even back then, I would use the supermarket plastic bags as you do, for trash or whatever. As long as they are not thrown away unused, I think it is just as virtuous to get the plastic or paper bags that will keep you from buying trash bags - small ones, anyway... Having said that, I love market bags in general, and your version in particular.:)

Unisex Scarf in Highland Sport
|
I just finished knitting one in Oak - good TV knitting. It curled while I knit, but flattened totally with blocking. I am very pleased with the results.
I would suggest you block what you have already knitted - thread a piece of yarn through the stitches, secure them and take them off the needles, or block directly on the needles, if you are using Denise or similar (I`ve done that!) . That way you`ll know for sure how it will behave in your yarn, before you rip out all that work.
Or, maybe better yet if you are not comfortable with my first suggestion, knit a swatch of a few pattern repeats and block to see what happens after it dries.
Hope this helps...

Pablo arrived...

..and I immediately regretted having just sampled it - then I had to make room in the closet, and reality sank in. But it is sooo nice! Wish it would become a staple yarn.
(and Elle is coming, too. I need to find serious knitting time, or stop coming here for a long while...)

Saw this for the Picasso
|
Great idea, Les! I`ll have to reconsider my plans for my (sampler) supplies of Picasso.
Funny that stitch should appear at this time - I love it and in fact just used it for a scarf made with Tokyo. It was the best way I found to just show Tokyo without any unneeded embellishment; but I hadn`t linked it yet to Picasso...

Saw this for the Picasso
|
Kelly, I ordered two balls of Fresh Earth, thinking of making a Kap (with the yarn doubled). I have not started working with it yet, but what I see are very long runs of rust/brown/tan, brown/blue/tan, dark brown/blue/darker tan, apparently in that order. I started unwinding to see how long the color runs are, but gave up because it was going to be a job exceeding my available time.
Clear as mud? Hope somebody better with colors chimes in...

About the Cerus Scarf
|
In my experience with linen stitch iI`ve always had to use larger needles than the yarn would normally call for, unless I was looking for a stiff fabric for a particular project. You should swatch to make sure you are happy with the drape, before embarking on the 355 stitch (or whatever you decide) cast-on.
