OK, tattoos are too wild but bumperstickers could be dangerous
|
Yes, there are many dangers of the bumper sticker that Benne has pointed out. I think perhaps a tattoo of a third eye on our foreheads to recognise "us" on the street since we could be wrapped up in shawls, hats, scarves, long sleeved sweaters etc. during incliment weather. Les ;-}

Oh Bets, you clever, clever girl!
|
Great looking sweater Bets! I love the look of the textures you incorporated and the colours of the yarns. Your MIL will be happy! She`s going to feel pretty special with the Outback coming up too!
I am "this close" to finishing my daughters turquoise Araucainia (oooh, i love that colour in this yarn) tank top. - I had been worried about the fit and she tried it on yesterday and it was perfecto!! Nice and snug just how they like them. Just have to finish the straps and sew them on. it`s nice getting something actually finished! Les

Need close fitting hooded cardi pattern
|
Oh, my! I have actually had a request from DD (20yo) for a close fitting hooded cardi I think she has the aran look in mind with a cable up the front! I have had my eye on the Rogue (I think it`s an aran wt gauge) http://www.bolgenlaw.com/2004_03_01_blogarchive.htm (it`s in the march 14 entry 2 pictures). The original pattern was a pullover but this woman converted it to a cardigan and I love it. I`m just a little intimidated by the beautiful cable work - sleeves, sides and hood. I think I`ve only done cables on mitts so am not that expeienced. Has anyone noticed any other patterns - fitted, zip up, cables? Les

Need close fitting hooded cardi pattern
|
Eileen - Im anxious to see what Bets comes up with....... But I did buy the Rogue and it`s a paypal, download a pdf file kinda thing. The pattern is 19 pages long, with the charts etc.!!!!! Yikes! I haven`t used charts much and find them frustrating because you look at a symbol and it means one thing on a RS row and another on the wrong side row and that frustrates me to no end. If I tried knitting this around my family I would be constantly be throwing tantrums. Do you have any tips for making the chart reading any easier? Les

Oh, thanks so much you guys! I knew you`d come through for me!! I knew that I had seen some around but do ya think I could remember where? I had even borrowed the Debbie Bliss book from the library this spring but had forgotten the hoodie in it. I just ordered it - again!! And, of course I had seen the one on Knitty.com. I love that site but the names, tho cute they are, do nothing to spur my memory when i`m looking for something I`ve seen. I know there is a page that has a categoriaed list of their projects but darned if I can find it lately. Anyone know what I mean and can tell me how to get there?
Boy, ELL, the one you have on your needles is intricate. How`s it going? I agree with you about the Paton`s one - nix on the bobbles!
Alice - found the pattern you mentioned (Jamieson`s...) It`s so loose in the pic,how did you make it so snug for Dani?
So, we`ll see which one DD picks! Les

Need close fitting hooded cardi pattern

Okay, thanks a bunch you guys - I now have a file of pics of these lovelies! Will show DD when she gets back from work. But......now that I think of it, DD#2 had requested one some time ago and I had said I wasn`t up to the challenge...now I`m a bit braver. So, it looks like I may have to do two to keep the peace around here as DD2 has a verrrrry good memory! And of course, they would probably want them for "back to school" wear. May have to do the 19 page Rogue pattern after all - intricate cabling BUT lots of stockinette in between. Yikes! Les

some sad news to share
|
Oh Pat, I am so sorry to hear about your father. It is always sad to hear of friends losing their parents. Mine are both 84 as well. I hope the weekend and Monday with family and friends, allows you to rekindle the memories of the things you did with your father and helps to relieve the sadness. Will be thinking of you. Les

Wow!
|
I`m baaa aaack! Love the new pics of your projects and have started to look thru 10 days worth of chat - it`ll take a while! Darla - drove thru Fernie - tried to get a cool drink at Jamocha - expats from around here own it - but they were closed for a private function! dang! Looked for you (on the highway- what"? you weren`t there?) but didn`t know what to look for - the tatoo might have helped!!LOL
We all had a great relaxing time - AND DD#1 was able to take the greyhound overnight and join us for 3 days. Didn`t bring any knitting after all. (the kids begged me not to- can ya believe it?!!LOL) Read 4 books instead. The cottage was log - built in 1948 with a current add-on for DH and I. It had a large covered deck and was tucked in under the cedars. Felt like we were in a treehouse. Perfect! Didn`t get fishing Benne - will have to try your tips locally. Les
