Help! I have to make a poncho thingy for DGD Well, I`m not sure who would be cooler than Grammy Benne and I wouldn`t dare to try!! ;-} I did some searching on the net and I know just what you are looking for but do you think I could find a pattern? I`m sure I can roust out some old McCalls knit and craft books from the 70`s but they were probably all crochet patterns - I`ll check. You may have to do a two rectangle style in some airy pattern for her.

Pattern for Paton`s Grace here is a tank pattern I found, for Paton`s Grace just offered on Elann. Looks like a nice-fitting ribbed tank.

Help! I have to make a poncho thingy for DGD I looked in my old craft mags - McCalls, BH&G, American Home Crafts (remember that one? it was great) and I couldn`t find anything suitable. Dang! I think I`d go for the two rectangle thing with a bit of fringe. This may help.......

Alice - how was your knitting week? Alice -it sounds like you put on a terrific retreat!!

OMG a 900lb pig! Is he in the Guiness Book of Records? I`ll bet Wilbur is gorgeous!

When our kids went to the school down the road, they had what they called the Mini Ranch and they had all sorts of donated or borrowed animals. We kind of took ownership of it as our kids were often asked to look after the animals on wkds or spurts in the summer when the teacher couldn`t. (I remember one day in extrememly sub zero weather with nasty wind chill, helping DD feed the LLama`s. There was a big round bale but the llamas wouldn`t touch it unless it was forked off and on the ground!! What a hoot!) Anyway,I digress - my story was to be about the potbelly sow who was pregnant!! She was due any day and we would go visit her regularly. Those potbelly`s have very little clearance and the poor thing had her litter? and then rolled over on them!! so sad!
I can`t wait to meet Wilbur in September!

Les - who is starting to get itchy eyes and hives just thinking about those dogs!!
Oh, and Eileen - Ikea has wicker beds for your cats. "unlike the lowly cat mats, this breeay platform is 2 feet high and looks like stacked, upended huts.
The top is scooped out to make room for purring bellies to sink into, a washable faux-fur cushion with a teasing, dangling, tail. The base is a hideaway with an arched opening that tickles curved on the way in and out. Top to bottom walls of woven wicker - convenient scratching posts - won`t fray under kneading claws."
Can`t you just see 13 of them lined up at the window! LOL

Mamas and Nanas! get a load of this! That pattern is so sweet and somewhere in my stash I have a ball or two of angora that I think I inherited from my MIL. The wee girls in my life would probably want to live in a sweater that cute!

Your first project: Mine was a cardigan in about 1967. Mom chose the pattern and yarn which was a pale blue tweed in a soft acrylic. it had a picot edge and was actually quite pretty but I was just entering my teens and wanted to wear something cool, um,not pretty! I started crocheting and made some groovier things like those cloche hats (didn`t Ali McGraw wear one in "Love Story"?) which made me feel cool especially when I was asked by some very cool young woman at the ski store to make a bunch for her and her friends! $1.49 for the yarn and sold for $10-$12, I think! - throw away those knitting needles!! Oh yes, then there were the knitted slippers somewhere in there - garter st. up to the toe which was ribbed. I don`t think I knit again til I was about 20 and made a few (cool) short waisted cardigans.

Marion`s oh so special weekend.... Oh, Marion, good luck with this one!!
I had a land lady in my first apartment who had tin foil on her windows because she knew that the CIA and KGB were beaming into her apt.to get at her brain for the "information" she had. There was a religious link there too and one had to avoid mentioning anything that could be construed as relating to religion at all or she would have something like a seizure. I experienced this one day when I mentioned my neighbor whom I was friendly with and she said "she`s a Buddist" and there she went, slipping down with her arms and legs sticking through the iron railings of the 3rd floor stairwell! fortunately, it didn`t last long.
My oldest daughter is taking nursing and was at a Psych facility for 2 days each week last term. She had one young guy in his 20`s who heard voices and was medicated but he told her that the new med. took away some of his voices but not all of them. He feared that they would medicate him more and get the rest of the voices and he knew he would miss them as they kept him company.
She had another older fellow - a big tall guy - as a patient who never spoke to her until the very end of her term. He muttered to voices he heard tho and was the keeper of the houseplants in the unit. She went to his room one day when all of a sudden, 3 male staff ran into the room and got her out. Apparently they had forgotten to tell her he was a "violence risk". She said that he seemed like such a gentle giant.
Is your neighbor being medically treated in any way?
I guess, as you say, you have to wait until she finds another target.

Something that every woman must do! You BIG Chicken!! Never been bruised before, never been hurt but I must admit I have procrastinated having it done. I can speak now, because I had mine done a couple of months ago.
My DS in WA found out she had breast cancer 3 days before she was married (5 yrs ago)! Radiation wiped it out - phew!

Sweaters for your little girls..... I found this site for a doll sweater with little flowers embroidered on it. They are adorable and would use up those leftovers.
