Benne, Well do you have sheep yet? Ya, check with the mail people. Each year and sometimes twice a year one of our customers orders chicken chicks (that doesn`t sound right but I was raised a city girl) and turkey chicks. They come at about 4am. when I get up I can hear them from the kitchen so I go out and water them - take each one out and give them a little water from a jar lid. They are pretty adorable, but imagine how adorable a lamb in a box would be.............LOL

Oh Les-birthday in your family Thanks Bets! Margaret is the model of the sweater but Emma is the birthday girl! I`m all confused and think that I have the day wrong and that it`s tomorrow. I phoned over there today but didn`t let on my confusion. I didn`t get any confirmation as to whether it`s today or tomorrow. Don`t want to look like the bad great-aunt you know, there`s competition out there. I did tell my niece that I was out seeing clients today and will have to do another day later this week but it isn`t confirmed, thus I don`t know when I can get to Calgary. So, I`m none the wiser, but played it pretty cool don`t ya think? ;-}

Benne, Well do you have sheep yet? Okay. start with one of these http://leslie@lesliebell.com/frameset4/frameart1.html
done by a friend of mine - she can no doubt do one as a LLama, alpaca, sheep or fancy goat. They are larger than life sized - you can supply the yarn for the critter from your stash, DH will grow to love it, doesn`t require much care.........then you sneak the real ones home - sure, via the Millarville post office for a little tlc.

a link for Betsy Bets, Bets, Bets!!!! LOL
You had asked Point Mousse where she saw the preview of the next Interweave Knits mag. (don`t think it`s out yet so stop harrassing the mailman) as she had said that it had a nice Fair Isle bag in it. It was in reference to Alice`s request for Fair Isle ideas for her retreat!

Just saying howdy Spring is just starting to spring around here too. After last weeks snow, the grass is starting to green. The Canada Geese have been back and what I think are snow geese - I can`t find my bird book - probably hidden under some yarn. They look so cool floating on the water. Leaves haven`t started yet but the buds are plumping up.
Will have to check up the hill to see if the crocus` are blooming yet, tho probably a little while yet. Ranchers are now doing things (?) to the fields and driving their equipment down the roads, slowing traffic, tho I don`t mind usually.
Yesterday I found a month old yarn shop in Calgary with a very nice co-owner. She has some terrific yarns which we drooled over together. There was some yarn from a woolen mill in Alberta which like the brown sheep yarn has some mohair in it. Mohair wasn`t evident in the skein, which actually felt kind of harsh. She had some bags knit and felted in that yarn and the mohair was really long! quite a nice effect and much less expensive than the brown sheep wool sold in Canada. I think I paid about $14.95 for the Lambs pride and this yarn is about $5.50 for the same weight!
She said that she tried to order Brown Sheep for the store and they said that they wouldn`t be able to supply them as they just have enough to keep their current customers happy - but they would put them on a waiting list!!

Self patterning socks Here`s a little tip. The woman at the yarn store uses a solid colour yarn for the ribbed top (3-4 inches I think), heal and toe of the sock and says that she gets three pairs of socks from 3 balls of the self patterning yarn + one ball of the other yarn. Normally, the patterns call for 2 balls for 1 pair of socks and you have a bunch left over from each ball.

Hanks of wool The way I`ve been doing it is to get my DD to do it who loves to do those kinds of things!! sometimes she asks if she can do it. I have to use some psychology and - use the maybe maybe not technique to keep her interested!!!!!
If not, I hang it from the arm of my couch. I unwind about 3 loops from the big set of loops and start winding. doing this lets you catch a mess before it starts - well sometimes. LOL

Wow! MacChick Those are really great MacChick! You HAVE been having fun!! No, i wouldn`t have imagined that those tops are in Esprit. Nice hang, eh? MacChicklet is so sweet!

I love how you "fitted" the casual cables sweater. It really suits the rest of the changes you made. I haven`t yet tried a "from the top down" sweater. I`ve seen a "from the top down" pattern for a zip up jacket that I haven`t forgotten which I may try. I usually see a pic of something that I think I have to make but then hours later I`ve forgotten all about it!
What yarn were you using in the casual cables?

Eileen - did your DH write this? UNDERSTANDING WOMEN
(A MAN`S PERSPECTIVE)

I know I`m not going to understand women.
I`ll never understand how you can take boiling hot wax,
pour it onto your upper thigh,
rip the hair out by the root,
and still be afraid of a spider.

And Benne, is this you?

WOMEN`S REVENGE

"Cash, check or charge?" I asked, after folding items the
woman wished to purchase. As she fumbled for her wallet
I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse.

"So, do you always carry your TV remote?" I asked.
"No," she replied, "
but my husband refused to come shopping with me,
so I figured this was the most legal evil thing I could do to him."

Arghhhh!! Laundry Crisis - help please DD dried her 100% polyester basketball shorts with her tube of lip chap. They are a shiny almost metallic looking knit. This is the second time this has happened!! Little round grease spots all over- which in her mind means she has to get another pair. Ya, right! I was unsuccessful removing the spots with last pair of basketball shorts. I used Shout gel and then some sort of paint solvent. Can anyone help?

So what are you working on THIS week? What am I working on?
The "other" sock.
A great niece cardigan with pockets and shawl collar. 2 tank tops for DD`s.
My Uros cardigan which I fear I may have made in too large a size.
A purse inspired by the Just one more row Sling bags but done "my way" in Mission Falls cotton leftovers. DH thinks I`m making a pizza.
Glad you asked - maybe I`ll finish something - can`t have the same list next time you ask can I!!
