How do you justify adding to your stash?
|
You know, we all could have much worse habits than hoarding yarn. For example, we could hoard rotting food, like I heard on the news this morning. Or old newspapers. Or collect bobble-heads or beer cans. In comparison, a few extra balls of yarn seems pretty tame. :-)

Yeah, and maybe if I run out of useful, pretty things to knit I`ll knit a digestive system for my DD, the medical student! She can put it in her office once she finishes her residency, and she`ll put ME in an asylum, LOL.

You might want to look into a company called Lifelock (lifelock.com). They guarantee that your identity won`t be stolen if you subscribe to their services. My DH and I signed up a few months ago. We figure it`s worth the money not to have the hassle of dealing with identity theft.

Carloway Tweed and Bag Mohair-

Bets, my Emerald Carloway came a few days ago. I LOVE the color. It does feel a bit scratchy, so it will need to be a sweater to wear over a turtleneck or blouse. But I`m sooo glad I got it.

Jean, You don`t know me, because I`m rather new to the Elann chat center, but your video brought tears to my eyes! My brother-in-law did 2 tours in Iraq, so I can imagine what you`ve been going through having your DH gone for so long. My best wishes and prayers to your entire family. Please express my gratitude to your husband for his service to our country, and thanks to you and your boys as well for your sacrifice in having him gone.

I just finished knitting my very first pair of socks ever, using, the Sock It To Me Harlequin. I posted a question last month about how to get two identically striped socks. I ended up unwinding the second skein of yarn around a piece of shirt cardboard to find and match the striping sequence of the first sock. That worked really well, except for one tiny problem. The yarn on the second sock was knotted, and was actually missing two stripes when I got to the foot. After frogging a bit, I was able to use leftover yarn from sock #1 to splice the missing yarn in. The result is not 100% identical, but close enough for me. I`m pleased with the results, and actually enjoyed the process enough that I might someday make another pair of socks. I`ve uploaded the picture and hope it is posted soon.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words. I just got home from work--what fun to see my first project photo posted to the Chat Gallery! And yes, I can see that sock knitting might become addictive. Has anyone had experience doing toe-up socks?
