shoulder replacement cancelled Cheryl....I`m so sorry you have had such a bad time with your health care system. I would definately not go back to this guy, no matter how good he is. You don`t want him to operate on a day when he got up on the wrong side of the bed. Time to look for a dedicated female doctor who has the same qualifications but has a heart as well. There are more and more of them around these days.
I have worked long enough with surgeons to know that they do have an ego problem and it really affects their work.
I have run into a similar problem with my rheumatologist. We only have one specialist within a 300 mile radius and he is an idiot too. He as much as told me he couldn`t help me so don`t come back. What is a person to do when they are suffering? I have to take care of myself and make sure I`m doing what I think is right.
Also, remember that anyone can write things on the internet, whether it`s right or wrong. Take it all in with a grain of salt, and don`t rely on it too much.
Hope it works out for you, Evelyn

Wow, Evelyn! This comes from someone who can`t stick to a sweater pattern long enough to finish.
Pearl stands a full 2 ft. high.
No, she is not felted. The pattern called for a size 6mm. needle but I only had a size 6.5mm. available at the time so she is a tad bigger than the 18" that the pattern says.
You start by knitting an oval shaped body and then add the arms and legs seperately, plus the head. I put heavy beans in her feet so she would stand good but I still had to put her on a doll stand, right up the middle of her body...ouch. Then you add a skirt and hat (with the ears attached). Allan Dart adds so many little details to his paatterns that make it so special, like the knitting bag with the balls of wool rolled up inside and her slippers. Her spectacles were here sitting on a nurse doll that I have so I just took them off her and put them on Pearl.
The only part that isn`t made with HW is the body which is a boucle acrylic which you knit in stockinette stitch and then use the inside of it as the furry looking body.
I have a couple more of his patterns that I would like to make but what do you do with them when they are done? Don`t have any granddaughters to give them to.
His patterns include a "gardener" and an "artist".
I also made the Jultommetarre like Sandra mad. I know I spelled that wrong but I can`t find my pattern right now to get the correct spelling.
You should all try one of Allan Dart`s patterns. They are lots of fun. You see a little "person" appearing right before your eyes.

Wow, Evelyn! Hi Bets...we just might be there in September. We just returned a few weeks ago. We went on March 2, but had to return 10 days later because my DMIL passed away. Then I have been laid up with a nasty bone infection in my leg. Had to be on bedrest and that`s how Pearl got finished. Problem still not solved.
I`ll keep your trip in mind when we plan ours. That would be so exciting to see you.....Ev

Wow, Evelyn! My apolagies Jean. You are the one who inspired me with your little Christmas elf. I was thinking it was Sandra D. I hope Sandra is not looking all over the place for the elf that I said she made.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments about my girl. She is a great addition to our family. I haven`t knit a purse for over 6 months. Now I`m looking for a new challenge. I will do more Allan Dart patterns at some point but not right now. It`s gardening season in thee parts and that takes up most of my summer.
Thanks again....Evelyn

REALLY OT !!! and not! The real secret to mascara is that each time you use it, run the wand under the tap with very hot water before you apply it. This will eliminate the blobs that you get when the fluid has started to dry up. It gives you a very natural look. Give it a try and let us know.

Thanks again Glad things are going well Suzanne. These doctors are sure full of themselves sometimes. It`s that old adage, you can`t live with them and you can`t live without them.
The reason they put you on blood thinners is to prevent a fat emboli, which is not uncommon with any orthopedic surgery. That is probably why he wanted to see what`s happening with your lungs. The result of having a fat emboli is very serious and he doesn`t want to get sued if anything happens to you. I think he is just covering his arse, as they say.....at your expense. When I got my two new knees (the same day), I was on coumadin for 3 months, just to make sure.
Good luck with your recovery. Now the "work " begins with all the physio you will need. It`s so important.
Take care and keep us posted.

What`s on the needles? After frogging several times, I`m working on a nice pink cardigan that I started back when Stephanie Pearl-McPhee had us knitting for the Olympics. How many years is that? Needless to say, I didn`t win, but I`m doing a better job because I have had so much experience since I started.
Evelyn
BTW - Where is Benne? I don`t remember any posts lately.
