A Thanksgiving Day to be thankful for

My thoughts ane prayers are with you Benne. Wish I could give you a big hug in person but a virtual one will have to do for now. Nothing worse than having a sick child, no matter what age. Your maternal instinct is to take care of her but your hands were tied...must be awful. Thank God the outcome so far has been positive. Take care my friend.

2009 fashion color prediction

Bets...do you still have any left over fashions from the 20`s. Maybe you could re-cycle them.
I happen to love yellow in fact I have several yellow items in my wardrobe but it has to be done tastefully. It`s a great accent colour but not as a `head to toe` covering.
I have a necklace and bracelet made out of big yellow chunky beads...really big for a bead, and I wear it with black pants and a black turtleneck and it looks quite sharp, so I`m told. Get a mitt and get in the game guys ! LOL

Time for mitts & mittens....
|
Marie, I was feeling really stupid tonight when I was weaving in the ends on my recently finished mitts. They are striped so have many ends to take care of. When I was on the last one, I accidently clipped the yarn too close to the mit and cut the wool holding everything together. Fortunately it was half way up the thumb so I can tear it out and re-knit it.
I was so angry with myslf

Whatcha Knitting?

I`m making fingerless mitts and a matching headband for my dughter.I thought I was a slow knitter but it`s really all the tinking and frogging that take up my time. I want to knit some tiny sweaters for my Christmas Tree but so far haven`t found the time. Why don`t we do these things in the summer months?
I`m so overwhelmed right now with all that has to be done in the next 2 weeks. I bring it on myself, I know. I love Christas and love to stick with little traditions etc. I`m doing lots of baking too for which I`ll be sorry for at some point.
Every day I go to bed with an aching back from overdoing it and then have to spend the next day in bed. Getting old stinks. But......don`t worry, be happy!

What a great sock monkey hat....I have knit several of them. My DIL is a great fan of sock monkeys and has a huge collection. She also has several books on them with all kinds of expressions in the faces.
Megalion, I have a pattern that was in the Knitty publication last year and yours is almost identical.

I would like to join in and wish everyone Happy Holidays. When I am talking to my "in person" friends I frequently relay something I have heard from my Elann friends and I consider each and everyone of you a special friend, although I have never ever met any of you. How lucky we are that Ann and Bob have brought so many good people together with this chat site. That`s what I call "above and beyond".

I also had both of mine done at the same time. Best advice is to get it moving as soon as possible after surgery.
It`s so nice to be able to stand long enough to cook dinner. So many little things you get back after it`s done. I`m hoping they last forever `cause they`re not getting a scalpel anywhere my knees again.
Good Luck to you Suzann....it seems to be the
"in"thing to do these days.
Those of us with all the metal implanted should go somehwere and hit the security lane at the airport at the same time. It would drive them nuts.

I`m currently making one of the Jultomtar gnomes like yours. The pattern says to put the body together using a mattress stitch "with the right side of knitting uppermost". First I think the chosen stitch is a strange one to sew up the body and the latter part of the statement is hard to decipher as to what he really means. Did you follow the pattern and do it that way or did you do it another way?
After making a couple of these cuties, I have the pattern for his "Pearl The Knitter". I`m looking forward to getting started on that one.

Watching for my Canadian buds on TV

Benne, don`t get too excited because all the Canadians are in Florida soaking up the rather cool sun. But it`s still better than this darned snow that is piled so high at the sides of the road it makes for dangerous driving. The golfers have all gone to Myrtle Beach. We`re not crazy you know.....anyway, there are parts of the US that are way farther north than we are. ie: Wisconsin !
