Lara - Your needle felting questions
|
I know you were thinking of trying this craft. If you go to Wizpick.com you will find a list of all the needles available and what they do. There are so many kinds. If they get dull, they don`t work at all so you have to keep a supply on hand. I think you might be able to needle felt on almost any fibre. Just give it a try. I`m sure it wouldn`t work on the slippery stuff though. I like to use other yarns, especially the colourful thick and thin yarns. Have fun. Evelyn

Thanks Billie...I have a new lap top on the way and I plan on being very careful with it. Sometimes we need a "slap in the face" to smarten up. Thanks for the "slap"...I will consider it good advice from a friend. Evelyn

I am alive

Calm down there Missy....Moving has been known to cause marital strife. It is by far the most difficult thing I have done in the past few years. Fortunately, when it`s all over and you sit back in your beautiful new home, all the pains in the butt seem trivial. Eating horrible food isn`t all that bad is it? At least you didn`t have to cook. Take care.....Evelyn

Happy Birthday Libby!!!
|
Count me in too Libby, even though I`m a little late. Your birthday is the same day as my first born. I found myself a little nostalgic that day, thinking of the day we became parents for the first time. I hope your birthday was as happy as it could be. You have lots of friends here to cheer you on. Custom Knits, a must-have book for me.
|
The author of this book is a wonderful girl and a great knitter. She is a frequent shopper at Elann. Her blog is one that I read every day and I feel as though I know her. I`m so happy that her book is such a success. Cheers to Wendy !!!

OT~ Drying leaves
|
You can also put them between pieces of waxed paper and iron them, although the waxed paper nowadays seems to be more plastic than wax.
Les...I can`t believe you were allowed to heat wax as a kid. It`s very dangerous. Sounds like it would do a great job though. I should try it now tht I`m allowed to play with stoves and hot wax. That reminds me...I have one of those hot wax things to dip your hands in for arthritis therapy. That might be worth a try.
Have fun...sounds like a good famiy project. Let us know how they turn out.

OT - My Boy is leaving Canada for the United States!
|
It has finally happened..The movers packed their stuff today and at 5 am tomorrow (Tuesday), my youngest son, his wife, and their 2 kitties are heading south to be residents of Durham, North Carolina. They have purchased a beautiful new house (5 bedrooms) and have purchased the new Anaplastology Clinic near Duke University Medical Center. This has been his dream for quite a while and it took over 2 years to bring it to reality. He actually went there last May and has been working on getting things in order before taking his wife along. It`s Canada`s loss but a gain for the US. Canada`s government`s meddling made it impossible for him to operate a clinic on Canadian soil. What I like most is that when the snow starts to pile up around here we will just get in the car and drive south. I know we will always be welcome. Plus, I can purchase stuff online and have it sent there so I don`t have to pay duty on it. Thanks for listening, I know some of you have asked about him from time to time so I decided to share. OT - My Boy is leaving Canada for the United States!

Many thanks for all the good wishes for my son "Jay". Yes Bets, his wife Tammy is doing great now and the doc said that if the kidneys function normal for a full year from now, then she will be home free. Anyway, she will be near such great doctors if the need arises. We are leaving on November 11 for our first trip to Durham. It`s really funny that we live here in Canada in Durham region, and they are 14 hours away in Durham. We plan to visit every 2-3 months. They are not only family but best friends as well. Can`t ask for more than that. Benne, I love to hear that "Dolly Parton" southern drawl. I had a teacher at Nursing School who was from South Carolina and I loved to hear her lectures. Take care all of you, my friends online. Evelyn

I haven`t bought wool in ages and this was going to be my time. I had everything written out so I only had to hit a few buttons without even thinking about it, but that didn`t help. I left with nothing and I`m depressed.
