Geeez Bri....you don`t have to remind us that some people are using their AC. Sorry but we frozen girls don`t have any sympathy for you basking in the heat.
Make sure you enjoy it for all of us. I heard today on the news that some people in Oklahoma will not get power back for at least 10 days. That`s brutal. My sympathy to them.
Here is southern Ontario it rained all day. I went to the cemetery today to put a Christmas wreath on my parents grave and I had to dig through a foot of snow with the rain pouring on my head. I was pleased that I found it after uncovering three other ones. Should have done it a month ago.
Lets hear from Southern California....ae you hot too?

Grace...after I realized who knit this I went back and took a really good look. It is amazing. You do a wonderful job at knitting..Must be all those shawls you have made that made you such an experienced knitter. I sure couldn`t match that one.

Billie....I agree with you 100%. I have difficulty getting around to shop and cook etc. I have always loved Christmas and DH has hated it for some reason. I`m sure he is the perfect Grinch.
I think others in my position would hate Christmas because a couple of years ago my Mom died at exactly 9:30 pm on Christmas Eve. While my sister and I were sitting with her in the last hours we made a pact that we wouldn`t let this event spoil our Christmases in the future. Our Mom loved Christmas too and we carry on all the traditions in her honour.
At my house, I do all the shopping (some of it on-line) and the grocery shopping and cooking and entertaining. Yes it is very difficult for me but I push myself. I have all of January to rest up. I will never, ever be a Scrooge.
But, back to the men...do you all think that maybe we created this little problem for ourselves? Don`t we want all the gifts to be perfect, and the decorating of the house, and the food, to be perfect as well? We all know how we get it to be perfect don`t we......
WE DO IT OURSELVES which will guarantee it is done the way we like it done. I have to admit that my DH does offer to help but I refuse to let him spoil it for me. When we went to pick out our Christmas Tree, he complained so much about being cold that he got a time-out and was sent to the car while I took my time to get the perfect tree. Wimp !!!
So ladies, we all have our little (or maybe big) beefs about Christmas but we handle it...just like we "handle" the preparations for the big day.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of my knitting friends who I have been so fortunate to meet here at Elann. May your new year bring good health with no wrist problems, lots of complaining, cause that is what we`re good at, and all the love to keep us going another year. On Christmas Day we can all look around at the decorations in our houses and the happy recipients of our gifts, and the wonderful food, and smile and say to ourselves, "I did this all by myself".

The Barenaked Ladies Christmas Special was made about 3 or 4 years ago and will be airing every Christmas forever. Did I ever tell you that I`m "sort of" related to them? My sister`s daughter is married to John Creeggan who is the brother to Jim and Andy Creeggan from the group. Andy quit the group a few years ago to pursue other activities and education but Jim is the funny looking red head who plays the large base. My sister`s grandchildren looks just like Jim. I danced with him at my neice`s wedding and it was a thrill of my life to be that close to a famous person. Ha Ha. He is a very intelligent and witty guy. I was uncomfortable talking to him because I felt so un-educated around him.

Sounds like a store that is friendly to visit....I love that. My Dad was born and grew up in Warkworth. I should go and see this store since I`m only about an hour away. Thanks for the tip Ellen. Wouldn`t it be nice if your post brings customers to her store. Then you would get even better gifts.
