Evelyn`s Purse You girls are so complimentary, I thank you.
If I`m feeling down, I just come here and you all make me feel appreciated, especially when each and every one of you is an accomplished artist yourself. I`m very grateful for our friendship.

It`s been a big day - ducks & snakes & storms - OT Benne, I can`t believe you chased a copperhead. Aren`t they poisonous? I would have run into the house and stayed there for a few days until I knew he was gone. And what exactly is a racer. Whatever it is, it sounds frightening.
It`s amazing how different our lives are. We city folk don`t understand what you and girls like Shiu Kuen do on a normal day. SK has been without water for months....that would kill me. And here you are chasing big snakes. I guess everything is worth it when you see those little ducklings hatch. We get our eggs at a chicken farm just outside of the city. That`s about as close I`m going to get to wild life. I went there today and they had brought some baby chicks into the store in an incubater for the kids to see for Easter. They were letting the kids hold the chicks, under supervision.
I have to applaud you for the things you do. I`m afraid there are too many of us whoosies who are not adept in the wild.

kknitter What beautiful children and sweaters. I would give anything to have a girl to knit for. I only have boys (5 of them) and the Mom of 2 of them doesn`t like hand-knitted things. Enjoy the little darlings while you can. They grow up all too fast.

SoCal Wildlife Report Speaking of animals....Did you read about the lady who found a bunny sitting in her refrigerator? She said, "What do you think you`re doing in there". Rabbit said, Is this a Westinghouse? Lady said yes....Well, I`m just westing.
Happy Easter everyone!

Swing needles?? So THAT`S what those things are! I have swing needles and use them occasionally for scarves. They don`t come in very many sizes. I had 2 to choose from and the little balls keep falling off mine so it got very frustrating. If they work well, they are kind of fun to use but you can certainly find other ways to knit the same way without the expense of them I think mine were around $18.00 Cdn. The salesgirl told me they were from way back in the olden days so it`s another way for retailers to cash in on the craze. A shortlived craze.

Question about Options from KnitPicks I have a complete set of Addi`s and then I bought the Options. I get really cranky if I have to use the Addi`s now so I bought some extra cords etc from Knit Picks and I`m all set. I have so much I can`t get my case zipped up. I absolutely love the Options for everything. Also the price is so much better than Addi`s. If I want to make something with an unusual size, I can get it for a few dollars rather than get an Addi for up to $23.00 Cdn.

stringing beads for a felted bag I would suggest you just take the end of the string and start to string it back through what you`ve just done and then put a crimp on it. Probably my instructions are not clear so if you google beading techniques you will find lots of help there.
Good Luck.....It`s very easy but difficult to put into print. You`ll find several ways to do it.

new here - Stretch cotton ? May I ask where in Ontario you are. I`m in Oshawa, just east of Toronto. I can`t find any knitting buddies around here. You`re going to love this site. You will never find prices as good as here and the friends are even niceer.

Suffering from a lack of imagination.... Lack of Imagination.....Bets.....Never

I don`t usually combine my yarns but I do know that if your basic wool yarn is of good felting quality and really thick, you can add other yarns with it as long as it is very thin and in a minor role in the pattern of the piece you are creating.

You can always "Swatch" Bets ! Then you could let us know how it works.

Sorry I can`t be of more help but I am in the process of unloading any yarns from my stash that is not 100% wool.

And last but not least-Happy Birthday, Evelyn! I just happened to be lurking around to see what everyone was up to and there was my name staring at me. Leave it to Bets to get something started. Yes my birthday was July 30 and it was good. Thank you everyone for taking the time to wish me a happy birthday. It`s much appreciated. I have been turning out purses constantly this year for my sale in December. I was thinking how many I had finished when I counted them and only found eight new ones. Oops, guess I have been selling them too often. So now the needles are clacking away trying to get more done. I will leave a couple pictures for you soon.
Thanks everyone and just so you know....I`m watching all of you. Ha Ha.

bags at sidebar Geez Billie, do you have to knock over an old lady.
Thank you very much for your compliments. Just thought I would let all of you know that I`m still around, just not very talkative. Everyone is showing such improvement in their work. It`s so nice to follow the knitters long enough to see the progress.

bags at sidebar Thank you Bets.....do you think we are shivering in the snow up her in Canada. No way....it`s 100 degrees up here too..and the humidity is terrible. We want some of your rain...you guys took it all and our crops are dying (not mine but the farmers). We need to eat too. Oh well, I guess we can all import it from the other countries who are having good weather, if there is such a thing on this planet.
Let`s see some of that needle felting.

bags at sidebar Actually Jamie, the bag you like is needle felted, not embroidery. It`s made out of an ivory Lopi with
colour 316 of Araucania Magallanes carried along for the body of the bag. The flowers are cone flowers.
I just make up the pattern as I go along. They all have rather striking coloured linings in them.

The red one is made totally from Araucania Nature Wool with store bought trim added. Again, my own pattern. The lining in that one is a pretty green with the axact colour of red in it as an accent.

I`m now making cell phone holders to match when the design will allow one to be buttoned onto the handle. When they are purchased the customers are not obligated to take the cell phone holders. There`s still lots of non-technical ladies around. I find when my phone rings, I can never find it in my purse so this should solve this problem.
Thanks again,
Ev

Thank you everyone for your nice comments. You really boost my spirits.

something else I`ve been working on- OT Way to go Bri..I`m cheering you on.
As an old girl who has trouble walking let alone running, I am so very jealous of what you are doing. So work extra hard at training for the Elann girls.
We will support you and your cause.

Yarn Storage Hi everyone....just wanted to share something with you. I just ordered a 15 piece storage bag set from
www.theshoppingchannel.com
These are fantastic for storing wool. You can reduce the size of your stash by 2/3 and your husband will think you have a lot less wool. There are 15 of these bags that you fill and then put your vacuum to the seal and take all the air out. They are dirt and moth resistant. And...the best part, all 15 are only $32.88
I have ordered from this retailer many times and they are as reliant as Elann. We all know how good Elann is so why not spend a few bucks on these bags and then buy more wool from Ann.
I don`t usually do the advertising for any product but these are just too good to keep to myself.
