Just posted my Lady E picture
|
Bets...your Lady E is fantastic. Beautiful colours. Isn`t it nice to see the ones done and how different they are with the different yarns and colours. You deserve an Oscar for sticking with it to the bitter end. Evelyn

KnitPicks needles
|
I use these all the time. I mostly use the larger sizes. After I tried them, I ordered the larger needles and duplicate cords as well. The smallest cord is 24" and I wrote to them to see if they had any 16". They said not at the moment but they will be offering them this year some time. I also bought extra pages to keep everything in. I can`t say enough good things about them. I really love them. You have to think about your knitting habits to decide if you want any extra cords or larger needles. I mostly use size 8 mm and larger. In fact I think I am going to order some more size 8 and 9mm. plus some more cords. You won`t be sorry if you buy them. I would suggest you buy the kit and make a decision later about what extra`s you need. Evelyn

Ok, I am back-
|
Bets....I have been wondering how you are holding up this week. Sometimes you want to just forget about being strong for everyone else and let things go. Now it`s time to take some time for yourself and remember the good times which is what knitting allows us to do. Time to remember him with a smile on your face. Evelyn

I have almost 2 balls and its number 0744 but the dye lot is 748. They are left over from something I made and I have no use for them. I think the second ball is full but I have taken the ball band off. Let me know where to send it, if you want it. My email is on the addi list. Evelyn

Cool Bag, Evelyn!
|
Thank you for all your nice comments about my latest bag. I have another one which is a little more artistic but I`m having difficulty with the picture on my computer. Maybe later. Bets, you definately should try needle felting. Your great artistic abilities would come across really nice with this technique. I use the proper needle felting needles in different gauges. Trish - I noticed you had the correct spelling of the design. Thanks. I just know it from my cake decorating classes and we obviously weren`t spelling it correctly. This bag will be part of my Christmas Sale this year. I don`t use this kind of purse. I prefer leather. Ha Ha. It`s a good size, approximtely 12 x 14 inches. Evelyn

OT ROugh Day
|
Grace, please remember when things get rough, we are all here to have a little chat with the man upstairs. I wish there was more we could do. It takes time for things to work themselves out, so just try real hard to stay calm. I wish you were here in Canada where we don`t think twice when health care is needed. It is always there for us at no cost. (well, aside from the tremendous taxes we pay). Take care and I`m glad you felt comfortable sharing with us. Evelyn

Barbara....I`m in agreement also. It`s such a big job and I hope you realize how much it is appreciated. I`m sure you could fill that time doing something else. You`re a very unselfish girl.

Question about swifts and ball winders
|
I always wondered if it was best to leave my wool in skeins until I was ready to use it. I think the ball winder might stretch the yarns a little bit. Then it might relax after it was knit into something nice and change the gauge. I would be interested in hearing what some of the experts here think of this. I might be way out in left field about this one. Evelyn

Checking In
|
Hi Cheryl....Hope you are up and at it soon. I too had bilateral knee replacement at the same time. The only thing I can say is it`s He_ _ no matter how you look at it. It`s been 5 years for me now and I still can`t bend my knees very much. For those of you who can`t imagine how this feels, try sitting on the floor, and then get yourself up with stiff knees. You can`t bend them a bit. Can you do it???
Then when you are good enough to go outside maybe for a walk or shopping by yourself, you have this fear that you might fall and be stuck there forever. I fell once on some ice. Fortunately my husband was with me but he couldn`t get me up on his own. I was unable to help myself at all. He had to go into a Vet`s office and get 2 big guys to come out and the three of them got me up. How embarrasing.
So Cheryl, once you can bend those knees, you have your work cut out for you. You will have to work harder than you ever have before on physiotherapy. Keep your positive attitude and that will get you farther than anything else. The bonus is that the pain goes away for the most part and that is wonderful after what you felt prior to your surgery.
I still use a walker to get around outside of the house. I found it embarrasing at first but have found if I want to be independent, that`s how I have to do it.
Take care and keep us informed. Evelyn
