Are We All Weird? That`s funny, just yesterday I noticed that on a couple of blogs. I think it`s because of the internet and email. It`s so much easier to sit down and type out a message than to answer the phone.

I got my Desire today... I bought one of the pattern a day calendars for 2007 and I was greatly disappointed. There must be more than one kind on the market. Most of the patterns are not as good as some of the work we see here at Elann. Some of them I have seen in the free patterns on the net. What does SnB stand for. These short forms are really driving me crazy because I don`t know what they mean and they sure are used a lot.
Anyway, I don`t think any of our fantastic knitters would be very excited about the calendar I bought.
Now there is an idea. We should start to collect patterns for next year and call it the Elann fan club calendar.

Great Moments in History: How Did you Find Elann?? I had only been back into knitting for a short time and I have to admit (with a little embarrasment) that I was hooked on those fun fur yarns and scarves. Then I did some reading about felting and I just had to try it. Since I was having difficulty obtaining any pure wool yarn around my city, I thought about trying the "net". I googled felting and this site came up. I read it over and I couldn`t believe the prices and the colours of that fantastic Highland Wool just set me off. The I realized it was a Canadian company and I was thrilled because I wasn`t sure of the procedure of bring goods into Canada from the States. Of course, everyone at home was cautioning me to steer clear of the internet as those people were out to get me. Ha Ha. My first entry into the chat site read like this, "Are these prices for real?" I got the most friendly and welcoming answers from Bets and Benne, and I quickly became their "friend". I couldn`t believe how heart warming those two girls could be, and I still feel like that after a few years. Then I was posting one day and I severly put my foot in my mouth offending people. Guess who was right there to comfort me and reassure me that it would all blow over by the next week....of cours Bets and Benne. My admiration for all the Elann people was growing quickly and still is. I have never met such a fine group of kind, caring, sincere encouraging knitters anywhere. And the sap just keeps flowing.

So that`s my story and I`m sticking to it.

wooh, Les smokin !!! Les....is that you in the picture? Wow,you look good. I`m starting to feel that I don`t belong to this artsy group when you see some of the snazzy ladies on the knitting web sites. If I looked that good, I would send pictures of myself all the time. Terrific sweater too.

Please Tell Me You Understand...(OT) What do you think of this idea? A bunch of women get together and buy a time-share apartment/condo in their own city. Each woman gets a week every couple of months to go and be totally alone. You could have all your craft stuff there (duplicates of course) and the kitchen would be equipped etc. The men could have the phone number for emergencies but not the address. I bet that would save a lot of marriages.

One Skein Wonders It all depends on your interests as a knitter. I bought the one by Leigh Radford and I didn`t find anything that I wanted to knit.

Use up those partial balls of HW - so you can justify buying more There is a cute pattern in the March 2007 issue of Creative Knitting for a felted purse using about 6 colours of leftover wool.
It`s called "Roll the Dice" Tote Bag. You take several colours of wool and assign each colour a number. Then you roll the dice each time you are to change the colour of the stripe to see which colour to use. You also use the dice to decide how many rows of each colour.
The bag is knitted flat in a big rectangle with slanted sides. When you join the sides, you have a bag with slanted stripes. You have to knit about 50 inches to form the rectangle and I have done 10 inches so far and I have a very nice pattern emerging. It would be nice for a few of us to do one and see how different they can be. Anybody up for it?

Use up those partial balls of HW - so you can justify buying more Hi Les
You start by casting on 75 stitches. It`s a 2 row pattern. First row is just knit and the second row you increase in the beginning and decrease at the end so you always have 75 stitches. This is how you get the slanted sides. When you get it done you join the seam with a 3 needle bind off and sew up the bottom and add straps. Pretty basic pattern

Anyone heard from Bri? Just wondering how Bri made it through the bad storms in Florida. If you are reading this Bri, please let us know how you are.

Congratulations to all you scarfinatos. They are all fantastic. Nice to see the names of our friends there too.

Anyone heard from Bri? Glad to hear from you Bri. I wasn`t aware of where in Florida you are. The newsmen up here really dramatize these things and we all feel so bad for the prople. My sister is in Destin for the winter.
I`m fine. Knitting like crazy. I have many commissions for purses after my sale last December. They have really become a big hit here with people calling all the time.

Got my Araucania I got some too. I love the Lagoon so I was pleased it was still there after I slept really late.
Also, when I woke up there was a big white box of Pamir waiting for me. So soft and beautiful.

Happy Snappy Birthday, Shui Kuen! Oh Shui Kuen, it looks like you are never going to shake that title of Miss Snappy....and you gave it to yourself. I`m sure there are much nicer names for you, such as, Miss bestest knitter of the century.

You have been an inspiration for so many of us here with your expert knitting. How many of us have said, maybe if SK can do it, I might be able to. We try hard but nobody ever does as good a job as you do.

You are truly the very best there is. Hope your birthday and the other holidays you are enjoying these days can take away the cold "snappy" weather you are having. Spring is almost here.

My stash keeps growing!! CBM...that`s such a beautiful way to put it ....The wool will tell you what it wants to be! That is so true. Put your wool out where you can touch it and look at it and before you know it, you have an idea.
