My little white purse ! My newest handbag, of my own design, turned out to be very small, just 6 inches. It`s perfect for those Holiday Parties to hold your lipstick and tissues.

Who says white doesn`t felt very well? The yarn is white Lopi and it`s lined with the fabric that it is sitting on, bright red with little gold stars. It has a magnetic clasp, thus the glass pendant to cover the metal thingie.

I haven`t been too happy with my felting results lately so I actually purchased a brand new cheapie washer. It`s just basic with no whistles or bells, not like my good one. And....it has a honkin big agitator in it. I tried to buy an old one that had been reconditioned but found they wanted as much for a 20 yr. old machine as Sears did for a new one.

When I took out my little white purse, I had to laugh....it was perfect! It made me very happy.

Now, if my picture I sent in didn`t turn out to be sent in the right format, this post is going to look pretty silly.

For Vincenzamary Hi there ( Is your name Mary? )
I just wanted to tell you how much I love your felted bags. Looks like we have someone who likes to felt as much as I do.
Your little cell phone holder is the nicest one I have seen anywhere. So many of them are funny looking but yours is classy. Very nice.
I have been trying to felt with a new modern washer but finally had to give in and get a basic one.
I would love to see more of your work.

My little white purse ! Mary Ann
I also sell my handbags. I have had my own business for 2 years now. My husband is an award winning glass artist and we have a Christmas Open House every December where I sell my bags. I now have a "following" of buyers. I don`t use them at all myself. I prefer a leather bag.
This year I am actually a featured artist on a Studio Tour. All of my bags are lined and all my own designs.
I looked at your website and I was very impressed. Good work.
I love this chat site because we have the opportunity to see work of all calibers...from the beginner to the pros. It`s so interesting to see the beginners move on and improve their work with the help of all of us.

My little white purse ! Forgot to mention that my reason for buying a washer was not because of the fiber but because my top loading has one of those new fantangled agitators that is very low. It just sits on the bottom of the tub and the tub actually gyrates giving a gentler wash to my unmentionables. I have always used a lingerie bag but I also haven`t seen a lot of fiber escaping. I find it wants to stick to the purse itself.

My little white purse ! No Theresa, I don`t have a blog or website. The closest I can come to any of those is my bio here at Elann. It even has a picture of my DH`s glass.
I live in the Toronto Canada area and I don`t think it would be feasible for you to get here.

However, I`m planning on going to Rhinebeck next year.
Wouldn`t it be great if some of the New York area people from here could get together at Rhinebeck.

Also, T, you asked about my good washer. It`s a Sears Kenmore Elite Calypso. We recently dowsized because we are empty nesters and started new with a very modern house and all the top of the line appliances as a treat to me. I have a disability and can no longer handle steps so I cvonvinced my man that I had to have the best. Little did I know at the time, that I would want a washer just to do felting, but I`m hooked.

I think those of you with little ones at home will have to wait to get the things that we oldies have. We have done our time raising kids, although I sure envy you young `uns and your energy.

Many Many Thanks Thank you everyone for all the nice comments on my white bag. Is everyone else like me....needing the praise of her peers to keep going? I think so.
It is very much appreciated.

Yarny love I think it`s more apt to be that white bus from the looney bin that picks all of you up. And they won`t let you have any string or sticks in there because you might harm yourself.

BTW...it`s Virtual Buddy Day today so celebrate all your friends that you have met on the net. I consider all you loonies my Best Buds.

Happy Buddy Day

How could you be so careless at not noticing that your mirror is broken. It`s not your body, you silly girl, it`s the mirror.

Update On Me Hi Eileen
So good to hear from you.
Will you please do me a favour? Print out your update that you posted here and date it. Put it in the baby book. Then in a few years make sure you get it out and read it. This is what you`ll say. "OMG, my breasts were leaking and I was so excited about it I posted it all over the internet....what was I thinking". This really made me laugh. I can`t believe the things we girls tell each other.

Anyway, I won`t give you the scolding that some of the others did....I think you know right from wrong, and if you don`t just go back to this post and we`ll let you know.

Just think...In a few short weeks, you will be holding your little one and all of these crappy feelings will be gone forever.

Along with the others, I wish you the best of everything for the next few weeks and forever. And remember, you will only be tired for only about 20 years. You can handle that for what you are going to get out of it....Right?

Attention Crafters....I Need your help! Does anyone know an online retail store that has a great variety of beading materials? If any of you have Eva Weichman`s book called Pursenalities Plus, you will see one of the purses (page 50) has a very large metal "crimp" just like the ones used in beading only much bigger. I am trying desperately to find some. I even wrote to Eva and she wasn`t able to help me.

If you can help me, I would be most grateful. Thanks girls.

Needed: Hat pattern that `s guaranteed to look good! Hi Billie
Is that him pictured with you in your bio. If so, I think you have an "urban stud" already.
I would suggest you go shopping with him and have him try on different styles before you choose a pattern. That way you won`t be knitting something that won`t work. Good Luck

Remember that big hat? Do you remember that big green hat that I had my MIL model for my picture? If you look at my bio I think it`s there. Well....I had washed it for 6 full cycles in my "good" washer. Last night I threw it into my new cheapie washer and within 5-10 minutes, I had the perfect hat. It shrunk to the right size and the brim rolled beautifully. So don`t blame your felting
mistakes on your knitting....it could be the treatment it`s getting after the knitting is complete.

Remember that big hat? Benne, I believe it was you a long time ago that put the idea in my head. You said to get an old wringer washer and keep it on the front porch like they do down south. I have been thinking of this idea ever since you said that. So, thank you very much.

Now do you have any other ideas I can use..
Right now I`m trying desperately to put dome fasteners into the purse handles to close them. The felt is way too thick and my feeble fingers just aren`t working today. Back to the drawing board I guess. Usually the DH is a big help but he is drawing a blank today as well.

Remember that big hat? My MIL comes here every Sunday after church to have lunch with us so I`ll have her model the hat again and take another picture. It might go to her because I would never wear a hat. God gave me hair and that`s all I need to keep warm.

Thanks for all of your ideas about the handles of the purses. I was trying to put an i-cord handle through the metal piece on the purse, fold it over and somehow fasten it so that it looked good. I had originally planned to wrap the join (after I sewed it securely) with a thin strip of leather. That was too difficult because of the arthritic hands. Then I got the idea of a dome. However the i-cord wasn`t very wide so I could`t get it through. I plan on making a short i-cord and putting a dome in it before felting and trying it to see how it looks that way.

I have now wrapped the join with a thin hemp cord and it looks good. I`ll send a picture. I will keep experimenting to see what looks best. I`m trying to have a professional look to the purses.

You never know, I`ll keep your ideas in mind and someday it will just click as to how I can incorporate some of your ideas. Thanks to my Elann buddies.

Remember that big hat? I`m not referring to the magnetic clasps. I need to put dome fasteners in the thick felt. I`ll send a picture so you know what I mean.

Hey, Evelyn, Speaking of Purse Handles... I noticed that last night Jayne. It`s one of those "Been there, done that" ocassions.. Last year I went to the thrift store to check out the purses and decided that it would be great if I was knitting for just me but when you put a price on it, I think I would rather have new materials. Looks like you got some really good ones though. I could probably find some good ones if I cleaned out my storage room that I have been neglecting.
You`re just so full of good ideas.
