Letters, I get letters!

Hey everyone, thanks! I`ve been receiving notes, cards and postcards every day from my elann buds and it really is cheery. I got a card from SK yesterday with two big 4-leaf clovers in it with two wishes. I haven`t used up the wishes yet. :)

That`s amazing, but I have to ask, why? I think a woman that talented with her needle and pattern design could probably design something amazing and original.
I did notice cross-stitch doesn`t translate to the male human anatomy very well. HA! I know, I`m wicked and bad.
And yes, I am a slacker. :)

My internet is down

My internet is down for a while, hopefully just a few days. Storm knocked it cattywhampus. I didn`t want you all to worry. We are sitting in a motel parking lot. ;)

My internet is back. I spent most of the day sleeping. I am really really tired after sneaking in a little cleaning the other day when Thom went to Nashville.

Excited to see the Niebling designs on elann!
|
I am very happy to see that elann is stocking one of the Herbert Niebling lace design books that Lacis has reprinted. These are beautiful designs and it`s great that I can buy them here. If you haven`t seen his designs, Niebling was a genius and most of his works are out of print but are starting to be reprinted by Anna Burda and Lacis. There are several books and booklets available now in English and it`s wonderful that the patterns are accessible to a whole new generation of lace knitters. I know, I`m gushing, but it`s so exciting to see things that cost hundreds of dollars on ebay become available to all of us. Thanks, Ann and company! :)

Oh,I hope you feel better soon, Jamie. Antibiotics can really make one feel lousy.
I may not get around to knitting all those designs either but the pattern charts alone are amazing to look at, what a mind he had! But you know some of us are weird and just love to read charts and patterns. :) Have a good weekend and drink plenty of liquids while you`re taking those antibiotics.

I love this shawl, SK! It is beautiful in the laceweight mohair. I`ve saved the pattern and charts and will look through my elann mohair stash. I like the way the shawl flows and drapes, very elegant. The coin lace stitch is so much fun to work and I always think of you and your mother when I see it. :)

I keep looking at all the color combinations and I can`t decide which one I like best, I do think that silvery/grey combo is very dressy but also versatile - jeans to that little black dress. :)

Blunt vs Sharp for bulky boucle`

Lisa, I prefer a blunt tip for boucle yarns. That`s when I really love my regular addis. It eliminates those sharp tips getting caught in the little loops for me.

So, I`ve got good news and bad news - for now
|
I had a bunch of yucky tests Friday and saw the surgeon. Good news, I`m healing well, bad news is that my esophagus still isn`t working right and I still have spasms, pain and my esophagus isn`t working like it should. He thinks the difficulty swallowing should improve but may not go away completely. So, it`s back to the gastroenterologist, let him experiment on me and then if I`m not a lot better in two months, the two of them have a sit-down and try to figure out what to do with me. I think I need to be in that meeting.
The absolute best news? I ate a Subway tuna on flatbread and I swear to you, it`s one of the best meals I`ve ever had! :) I have to be really careful but I can start eating some real food. I had a baked potato and some baked chicken last night. Everything needs to be smushed up but it requires chewing! YAY!
So, bottom line, just like the rest of life, there`s good and bad and we`re all along for the ride. I`m learning to surf. Surf`s up, baby! :)
