Peruvian Uros, Alpace, Highland Wool - all ordered
|
Here I go again! Many posts ago I revealed I had bought three (I am so ashamed) colors of the Austermann Kleopatra. You would not believe the reaction a bunch of yarn hungry knit mavens can have when they find out YOU got what THEY want! Have you seen those Discovery Channel programs with jackals circling their kill? It was brutal. I can still hear the electronic howling. Now I innocently post a rundown of my Highland Wool colors...wait I can`t hear you, is that snarling I hear?..let me explain, see, I just found out I`m a DRAGON!!! and I`m impetuous, see, yeah that`s it, that`s what happened, and well, how could I not get the red and the butter, and the cactus and the ...oh wait, I gotta go, I think I forgot to order one other color...LOL Benne

How To Get $ for Peruvian Addiction
|
Hey MacChick, After I stopped laughing I realized there were a few more things I could do for those yarn$
Dogs - Sell one of the dogs, after all, I`ve got two. Let them play rock, scissors, paper to decide who goes.
Washing Machine - Sell washing machine and beat laundry on the rocks in our creek.
Vacuum Cleaner - Sell rugs and vacuum cleaner, after all,I never use it and let yarn fluff make nice furry mat on the floor.
Meat - only buy the marked down packs that you have 30 seconds to use before it goes bad, I`ve heard you can soak it in bleach and maybe it`ll be okay. Let DH taste it first. He`s healthy, it probably won`t hurt him.
Gas - always put car in neutral and turn off engine going down hills. Good for at least a couple gallons a week.
Video tapes - erase all those tapes of family stuff and sell them in giant yard sale along with dog.
Baths- Stop taking them and turn off hot water heater. Bathe in lake, so what if it`s fifty degrees spring-fed water with geese and ducks swimming around pooping in it?
Popcorn - make it part of every meal, the kind in the plastic bag, not the microwave stuff, eat if first and you`ll eat less of all that other expensive stuff like salad and fresh vegetables.
Kid Artwork - Erase all those cute pictures your kids draw with colored pencils and use the paper to print free knitting patterns off the net. If they used crayon just load them with the backside up in the printer. After all, how much kid artwork do you really need? They`ll forget all about it by the time they`re grown.
Electricity - shut if off to the house 12 hours a day. You can just pull the main circuit breaker. It`s easy! You`d be amazed how much juice the refrigerator and all that other extraneous stuff uses. Tell the family you`re saving the environment.
Curtains - sell them and nail those old sheets over the windows. After all, you`re the arty type. It`s a decorating statement. I can get away with it, I`m a DRAGON and that means I`m eccentric. What freedom that imparts!
Gotta go, I`ve got a LOT to do! Benne
Heat - who needs it? Turn it off and make family wear lots of those knitted items you`ve been feverisly making.

How To Get $ for Peruvian Addiction
|
I am in love with Alpacas! Every time that commercial comes on TV with the baby Alpaca I beg DH to get me one. I have a spinning wheel, a red heeler dog (unless she loses the rock, scissors, paper thing) to keep the herd in line and a German Shepherd (so far) to keep the coyotes away. Bets, tell your DH he is an incredibly thoughtful man and we`ll ALL love him if he gets us an Alpaca. Sounds like a couple of those DH`s will be getting a lot of love - let`s just hope they don`t get booked and fingerprinted too! LOL. I do think if our families really loved us they would be willing to stand in the grocery store parking lot holding signs that say "Will work for yarn but it has to be really good yarn." Theresa has got the right idea about that work thing for kids, it`s not child slavery, it`s character building, and I`m only half kidding about that. BTW, my DH is now asking me what my buds at the Elann chat room are saying now. He thinks you are all a hoot and he`s right. Benne

Repetitive Stress Injury
|
I too have had that elbow injury and it did take time to heal. There is a device you can get at the pharmacy to wear that helps. I wore one for several weeks plus did exercises. It does take some time to heal. In the meantime you should take your cans of Slimfast to the paint store and get them to put them in the machine.LOL. You might try putting the Slimfast in the blender and mix it up there. Take care of this, it can become very painful. Benne

What are you working on this week (don`t be shy!)
|
Okay, I`m being a really good girl and finishing up some WIPs, sewing up a Point 5 sweater in Red Parrot for myself (boy, is it loud), just finished DMIL`s AbFab throw-fringing drives me nuts!,15 hats for my teenage CCD class at church, hats in black lite lopi for the special forces guys in Iraq, and I`d really like to get started on that Evita sweater but now I`ve decided to look at a different pattern, and of course I am going to be completely distracted when my BIG box of all that Peruvian wool arrives from Elann. You know I gotta do some swatching with that. That will be my reward for all those hats. Benne

scarf

Welcome Diana, For some great scarf ideas and free patterns go to Berroco.com, lionbrandyarn.com and knitty.com In general, with the furry, fuzzy yarns I use needles size 10-11 and cast on anywhere from 8-12 or so stitches and garter stitch (knit every row). You can play with the yarn and find the width you like. A lot of the yarn labels have scarf patterns on them as well. Good luck and have fun with your scarves. Benne

OH MY GOD!!! The Peruvian Highland Wool, Uros and Alpaca just arrived and I am in a swoon! That was not an earthquake you felt, it was me jumping up and down with joy! Quick, order all you can afford of the above mentioned yarn, it is worth every penny! I am so excited I am having a case of the vapors (quick, get the smelling salts before I fall out.) What me, a drama queen? You won`t think so when your orders arrive. Gotta go play in my yarn or maybe I`ll just roll around it for a while first. Hysterically yours, Benne

I am usually sensitive to the itch factor but this Alpaca seems very soft and non-itchy to me. It is softer to me than the Highland Wool. I am itching to get started using it but I must learn to pace myself and do all those projects I talked about in Bets question of what we are all working on this week. That WIP pile is relentless isn`t it? Benne
