thinking ahead - what to do with leftover Peruvian and sample skeins
|
I laughed Ann, but I thought it was great. I am envisioning all those boxes now. Maybe you can poll everyone here and see what they think. I think 1/2 pound lots is a great idea and can just imagine how much fun we would have going through them to see what we got. Creativity would run rampant! Benne

I need notions!
|
Hey Miss Bets, I saw them somewhere yesterday that I can`t remember. Typical. But I did find plastic ones at herrschners.com, swakknits.com and all kinds, metal, wooden, bamboo, you name it at usabuckles.com. I wasn`t sure exactly what you were looking for. Hope this helps. Benne

Oh, I wish we could have met! Maybe you`ll get sent to Fort Drum and I`ll be able to get together with you, Theresa, and Eileen and anyone else in the vicinity. If you get sent back to Ft. Campbell we can meet at Angelhair in our matching cactus casual cables. :} Benne

White Buffalo has arrived and the dog loves it!@#$%^&*
|
Damn and damn!!!! Just when you think you can trust those sneaky canines! I think this calls for withholding of treats for a time. My dogs and the cat were interested in my WB too and kept sniffing the box so they must smell the scent of little lambs. Maybe it could be carded and loosely spun and you could let DH use it to keep him out of your pristine WB.:} I`m glad you like the colors too. I think I will like the subtlety (totally unlike me to be subtle) of the colors together. I hope your colors are still there. Let me know how this works out. Maybe Theresa or Jamie will have some ideas about this. Benne

I once had a magnificent golden, DH says he is still the dog he misses most of all. We`ve had lots of dogs through 30+ years together but he was special, also a little mischievous. I can usually tell who is responsible for whatever infraction, so like you, I`ll bet they collaborated in this caper. I am going to put my WB into balls using the clear directions Theresa and Jamie gave on 2/27. It involves using dishes, but that`s okay, I don`t have to cook anything! Good luck with your new order. Now you not only have to worry about DH getting into your stash but your dogs too! lol Benne

SarahNYC - Geisha
|
Sarah, Did you make your project using the Geisha? How did it work up? Did you use stockinette or a pattern stitch?Did you go with the gauge we both came up with? I`m debating what to make with the lilac I bought for DGD and wondered how your project worked out. I have until Christmas to get hers done and I know I`ll be up against the line as usual.:} Benne

WAHEY!!!!!!!!!!!

The jacket should be beautiful in charcoal. Glad you got it, I know you`d been looking at it. I`ve been thinking about the Capri pattern for one or both of DD`s for their birthdays, May and June. I think they would both like it. I do think I`d make a shorter version for them though. I`ll sort through my stash and see what I`ve got for it. Be sure to hide your WB from any pets.:} Benne

DD`s are getting "not your mother`s coat." That makes me laugh because I know I am going to end up making one for myself, then it will be "their mother`s coat!" lol Benne

Teenage boy wants to knit
|
Theresa, The boys in my CCD class wanted to learn how to make cuffless hats like I made for them. Just like with younger kids I think the key is that they make something they can finish fairly quickly. Good for you getting him interested in knitting. Maybe you can get him interested in spinning too. It seems like guys would like that, a mechanical process of sorts that has an immediate product. Besides it is magical too. Benne

Corinna, I want to see your casual cables
|
Corinna, I know you said you`ve finished your casual cables cardigan. I`d love to see it. I am ready to start the back on mine in cactus and I really like this pattern. BTW, I love that pic with you and Lars/PLB and the baby kitties. What a gorgeous group! The Berroco My First Project book has lots of good projects for beginners. I got one for my DGD. We`re sure going to miss you when you have to start working those long hours. Benne

point mousse - your picture is priceless!

That is one of the sweetest pictures I have ever seen! It would make a great book cover. Good grief, your first project was fair isle, you are obviously fearless! Good luck with that &*%$# thesis, I know you can do it.
Your work is so badly needed, blessings to you and all whose lives you touch. Happy birthday to your little boy, if he`s like his mother he`s beautiful inside and out. Benne

Wow, Miss Jean those sweaters are great! Two years on the needles, no wonder, all that intricacy. DH should be VERY happy with his sweater. Now you can take off on stuff for you. :} Benne

Pink Turtleneck: Suggestions Wanted!
|
Ann, funnel necks make me claustrophobic even though I`m like Anne Boleyn - "I have a little neck." ;} I don`t like turtlenecks, but I love cowl necks. I think they`re generally more flattering too, that soft drape frames the face so nicely. I do think MacChick looks great no matter what she`s wearing and I think her sweater is cute. Th U shape you mention is what I have found on most of patterns for the soft turtle and cowl. I once got into a total panic when I got a sweater with a tight neck stuck trying to take it off and nearly hyperventilated. After much flailing of arms and heavy breathing of the wrong kind, I finally got it off. It went directly into the charity clothing bag after I got my heart rate back down under 200. lol Benne who will wear no tight necks - I can`t breathe!

Musing and questions....
|
Those patterns are beautiful and very intriguing. I love the different sizes of the modules. Just think, if we got our 1/2 pound of Elann goodies we could use them in one of her patterns. But alas, I am pretty much a blind follower and after I read some of the tips for following her patterns, I decided I`d let you make one so you could tell all of us how to do it. :} I`ve got some great sulky thread but I`ve never tried using them as a carryalong. I don`t know why it wouldn`t work, mine are very thin though. I`m still hard at work on my cactus casual cables so I can wear it if I get to go see Eileen and Theresa at the Wool Festival. If I get to go I`ll bite the bullet and let the Irish Cable Queen look closely at my first cable project. I am getting bold! I`ve got to get going on both DD`s birthday gifts, May 12 and June 9. Of course, even if I start right now I`s still be up against it as usual! Benne

I found a pattern I really want to do: what can I substitute for r/o
|
What`s the gauge on your pattern? You can do a search here by using the search feature at the top and search by gauge and fiber content. I`m not familiar with that yarn but I would probably use a similiar fiber content if I liked the look of the pattern picture. Good luck. Benne

Musing and questions....
|
Well, you know my first knit project as a grownup person going to the yarn store and buying a pattern and yarn was that lace baby coat I talked about so I could be convinced to try anything. I think it`s just that I`ve never had any classes and other than the knit, purl routine, I`m self-taught from books and trial and error - oh yeah, lots of error! lol Looking at the CD patterns, it`s just a jigsaw puzzle made with yarn blocks. Anyway I`m game.:} Benne

Now my dust bunnies are no longer cute pets but terrible monsters the must be dealt with. lol Benne
