Libby,
It sounds like you`ve really got your hands full. I hope DH feels better and you and Karolyn don`t get sick too.
I`ll bet your sweater is gorgeous. I love that lavender color in HW. Libby, what if you did a row of single crochet or crab stitch around the bottom? I`m still working on my solution to this. B2

I`m so impressed with Benne and her kind heart after what she has done with all of the wildlife around her home. I know that I would take to her immediately if we met. I am equally impressed with all of the posts that have appeared to support Benne. You are a great group of ladies. And Benne, I live in the heart of the city and I have a wild red fox that comes to my backyard every day. Needless to say, I won`t let me cats go out any time. We have a large greenspace behind our house and we have lots of creatures in there. My love goes out to you Benne and all of your fantastic friends here on the chat site. Ev

Hi Evelyn,
Thanks for your kind words, I hope we get to meet one of these days. I`m glad you found us. :-} This group is extraordinary, and I`m so grateful to have found this site and all these wonderful women. Shui Kuen`s DH says we would all be a good case study. :-} I was thinking about that yesterday and thought, you know, we would be a good subject for a thesis on women, group dynamics, and what happens when a group sharing a common interest comes together. We go so far beyond the knitting, although most of us have never met, our mutual support and caring as a group and individuals is phenomenal.
Ev, you have a red fox! That`s great! You are very fortunate to have a greenspace. Some cities wouldn`t have much greenspace if it weren`t for cemetaries, which makes me think think, darn good thing people chose burial over cremation, and it`s the one thing city governments have a hard time bulldozing. ;-} Foxes are suffering from loss of habitat, food sources, and displacement from the increase in coyote populations and range. I really like foxes, they eat a lot of mice and moles, voles and the like and are so beautiful. You are wise to keep your kitties inside. Jinx is an inside cat because I don`t want him to disappear and I also don`t want him bellying up to my bird feeders like he`s at a cafeteria. I can just imagine what he thinks when he watches my feeders. "Oh, let`s see, do I want a light meal of Chickadee delight or do I want to go for a full feast of Cardinal ambrosia." lol Benne

Benne, I`m so sorry about your duckies.
Good that you keep the kitty inside. It`s better for her; plus, you get to hear her when she probably chatters like crazy while looking at birdies. My kitties` tails go a million miles per hour as they dream about all the yummy birdies they would like to eat.

Thanks, Emily, it was a sad morning. I agree, inside kitties are much healthier. When he`s watching birds, Jinx switches his tail, his eyes get HUGE, he gets intense focus, and he sometimes yowls. :-} Benne

Ah yes, there is occassionally a tiny pang when I look at little girl clothes and realize I am never going to get to dress anyone in them, but I comfort myself by saying that surely she would have been a tomboy and refused to wear anything girly anyway! T, who figures that if her new baby has a baby when he is her age now, then she will be 90...

Dear Benne, Hope you and Thom (and animals) are hunkering down for what`s coming your way. It`s blue skies and a nice sunset here tonight, huge contrast from last night. Take care and I hope the power holds! Bri

Oh, Bri, I`m so glad to hear you rode it out okay. I was a little worried about my endorsing yours and Charles` plan earlier. I really feel for those folks in Mississippi and Alabama. I`m watching the weather channel now, Thom has filled water containers for us, I have oil lamps, a coleman cook stove that`s really cool, lots of batteries and the duckies are all safe in their pens with food and water. And, of course, I have lots of yarn to knit. :-} We have plenty of food and a generator for the fridge and freezer. We were in Nashville today for Thom`s dad`s 90th birthday party and on the way home on 1-40 we saw an entire fleet of emergency workers, power company trucks and FEMA looking trucks headed your way. They had a blue-light police escort and they were booking. Lots and lots of trucks and people on their way to help out. I hope you don`t need those power line workers. If I`m not here for a day or two, you`ll know what happened, lights out. :-} Benne

Dear Benne,
I am happy to hear that you are all supplied and ready, come what may. I grew up in a very rural part of MD and always feel the best when I have enough provisions to tackle the Oregon Trail! I`ll be thinking of you all over the next several days.
The power is on here & the worst has passed. Today, we are going to attempt to goto the bank, which is north of here and adjacent to the Gulf. I also made a complete yarn mess yesterday, which will have to be sorted out, in the name of destashing. What will you be working on to pass the time? The AV?
Be safe! Bri

Bri,
I`m glad to hear that you and Charles are doing well and were able to miss the storm. I have a SIL in Royal Palm Beach and my DH said that the storm missed her as well. Now all we have to worry about is Benne.
I`m also glad that you guys (you and charles and benne and thom) know how to take care of yourselves. OK by that I mean you have the stuff you need to get by without electricity. Like a campstove or a bbq, and some bottled water and food and stuff like that. When the electricity went out on the north eastern part of the US 2 yrs ago there were several people here in my area that didnt know what to do. Honestly it was really great to see all of the people come out of thier houses and talk to the neighbors and the kids riding the bikes in the neighborhood.

Bri, glad you are safe, Benne hope things will be OK. Amazingly here in SC we had trouble from Ivan last year with trees uprooting, the ground all wet and the leaves full of water and just enough wind. Looks like we will miss Dennis. Stay safe.

I`m hoping that you are having lots of fun over in SS with Alice and the girls.... (looking all innocent)
....Now lets get down to business!!! First off you can`t go and get SK because she is in hiding and we all love her....Second.....The devil made us do it! Honestly, we all know that that is a very viable excuse....and thirdly, well I cant think of a third....LOL
I`m hoping that you are having a great time over there! Libby

Thirdly the idea of dressing up as Big White Boxes, just took over our collective minds.
I hope you and all the gals are having a wonderful time, the yarn and adult stuff is flowing freely. Will you be home by Christmas? Oh SK is in hiding we are forming a protective wall around her A wall of dancing white boxes
