I am officially a grandma! :-) Our grandson arrived approximately 2:30 yesterday afternoon, weighing in at 7 lbs, 2.5 ozs. His name is Isaac Richard. Love that name!! Both mom and baby are doing great, and so is the new dad!! Wow! I can barely believe it myself. It took me 2 years to get used to the number "50" - now I need to acquaint myself with my new "other" name... It`ll be a piece of cake, right? :-) I think this is going to be fun!!

Since I am the grandma that rents the stroller at the mall and spins the DGD around in it, I think you can totally adapt.
Congrats-you have a small person to knit for-at least until kindergarten!!!

Oh, Liz, it`s a breeze! Congratulations on that new boy, I love that name too. The best thing about grandkids is, you can just enjoy them. Their parents get to do the heavy lifting and you get the fun.

a friend of mine just became a grandmother and she says her name will be "G". She says it can stand for "goddess" or whatever you want it to stand for! LOL! Enjoy! Les

Congratulations! My sister said that if she had known grandchildren were such fun, she`d have had them first :)

Congrats Liz... I don`t have any yet.... but just got a grand nephew but unfortunately they live in Tampa and don`t have much need for sweaters etc. Hope you live near to Isaac so that you can ENJOY!!! All my grandma friends say it`s the best!

Congratulations to you and welcome to the GM club! Two of my grandkids live in Hawaii, so I knit them other things than clothes, except for a much loved poncho I made for DGD. It`s so much fun to watch grandchildren growing up, and knowing that we don`t have full responsibility for their well being! Hope your little Isaac is close by! Jamie

Thank you, everybody, for all the congrats! I haven`t even met my little grandson - I`ve only seen newborn pics of him and I am completely, entirely, over-the-top smitten with him. He`s a gorgegous baby, and I can hardly wait to meet him this weekend. DH is just as excited as I am, maybe even more so, if that`s possible! We live about a 3-hours drive from the new family; it's a twinned highway (which is a plus) and the drive is quite scenic, so that's a definite plus. As far as my name goes, well - I don`t think of myself as a "nana" and I`m definitely not a "baba", so "Grandma" is it. I figure it`s earned a good reputation over the centuries. :-) I`d better get that little toque finished, huh? So much fun, teeny-sized knitting to do!

Liz, sorry I`m late to congratulate you - somehow I missed your post. Big congratulations! It is a great club you`ve just joined, and I`m sure from experience you and your DH will enjoy it immensely.
