After a less than thrilling experience with the Noro Silver Thaw, I went stashing diving and found some dribs and drabs of Taj Mahal. In a SOLID PASTEL color. I restarted Swallowtail Shawl, and have about 101 stitches on the needles. I am happy to report that I have the right yarn teamed with this project!

What are you working on?

Hey Bets, glad to hear "Take 2" is going better. I`m doing a 1 step back on my Sierra Aran pullover, this thing doesn`t want to be made, but I will needle it into submission! And of course, a couple pairs of socks. Am hoping to cast on my EAC Trellis Scarf today, just for something different.

Okay, DH is about to be on the needles this week. He`s taking a few days off and the level of bossiness by 5AM this morning almost had him locked out of the house before breakfast. ;-} I would like to finish organizing my yarn in bins and label them. A walk through my stash has me convinced I`d better hire a knitting elf pronto. I have a hoodie on needles I want to finish, some sewing up on Katrina top, and that chocolate Pamir has me looking for the perfect pattern.

Oh, Benne-let`s bundle my DH and your DH off together. I accidentally slipped, and called him @##$@@ (the term Red Foreman uses on That 70s Show) a few weeks ago, and I had to backpedal like crazy, but I swear, we need to go put them in a lousy diner with horrible service for about 3 hours. Then we`ll come out looking like the goddesses we are.

Before 5am bossy? Gees Louise. That could make for a long day. Don`t you need something built for your yarn, Benne?

There`s nothing pressing on the needles here ATM. I`m seaming the BTN for the 4th and final time. It looks great. I`ll report about the fit in a couple days. I`ve also ripped apart (though NOT frogged) my B&B. It`s the next thing to be seamed and tried on. I also have 2 scrubbies done, waiting for final putting together. Weird to have nothing on the needles. Certainly it`s a very short term problem.

Should have good knitting time this week. I`m plugging away at dads vest II. I`m really liking it this time.
Also working on a pink fuzzy sweater for Miss M. Using the Wendy sold here a while back. Great little girl yarn. Top down raglan, I thought I was finished with a sleeve, tried it on only to discover it is 4 in shy. I think the girl grew since I cast on last month.

I have a Swallowtail on the needles in the sparkly Kid Silk Haze, but I`m not really working on it.

Spent the weekend searching for fabric and working on a purple brocade Fairy Princess dress for Halloween. I`m slow because I keep stoppig to admire it and think, oh this is going to be SO pretty. I do so love having little girls. Only one Halloween costume this year, and I have a feeling I may not have many years left so I`m trying to really enjoy it. Of course, I had her try on the bodice last night and it isn`t quite long enough so I`m trying to decide whether to redo it and have it really right or just go with good enough for trick or treating in the dark. No progress on the needle front. Daryl

I`ve got 4 hats to make for Christmas and I`m about half way done with one of them. Its a pattern that I designed and I`ll probably post on my blog eventually after its perfected of course!

Then I have to make either a stole or some socks for my SIL for Christmas.

I`m hoping to get everything finished in time.

I told my mom that I have some alpaca (thanks Benne) in the basement and I have the perfect design in mind for her but I have to get it out of my mind and on the paper then on the needles. I told her not to expect it until next year.

OOOH, I envy you that costume, Daryl! I keep consoling myself that if I did have a daughter she would probably be a tomboy who would never want to wear a nice dress, so I am not missing anything...

(I fact, the list of sins and bad character traits as well as things that are perfectly ok but not my taste that I assign to this mythical un-had daughter is at times astounding, but she doesn`t exist so who is it hurting...)

DS # 1 seems to have told me this morning that he`d like new quidditch robes. The last set took me weeks, if I recall correctly, were based closely on the ones in the movie including a gusset so they would hang nicely over the broomstick and could have actually been worn in the field. Hm...will he notice if the robes are four sizes too small???

I have tried to convince him he would like to dress like the kids in the movies - Muggle clothing and a wand - but he ain`t buying...

And currently I have a ton of wip`s that are aging like fine wine, but nothing that is actually getting worked on. Still doing HUGe...

For me, it`s the other way around! It`s not "what`s ON the needles"; it`s "what are the needles ON"...the piano! Cause that`s where old Mr. J.S.Bach`s Allemande and Gigue, from one of his dry old French Suites, has been for weeks! And if I would only play with that piano as much as I play with this wool...well, I wouldn`t be sweating about the piano lesson I have in 3 hours!

What a fun thread -- so full of juicy bits of knitting, knitting plans and life.

My needles have been sadly still for a great deal of the last week or so. I`m longing to sit and have a whole day or morning at least to knit inches and inches of a project at once. Instead, it`s just bitty bits snatched here and there. All those bits added up to a bag, and now I`m knitting a handle, so that there are options (one purchased, one knitted). Lots of other wonderful yarns and projects on the go are tempting me, but I must finish my three writing pieces and send them off, hopefully today. Two are totally done, and today is for the third.

I can say this here -- DH and I had a massive fight the other day. At first it was about how much I spend on yarn, but I know that wasn`t really it. He has left his old job to go out on his own again, and he has brought a ton of stress and mess into our house. Including a whole wish list of things he wants to buy for his "new" office. Most of these things are wants rather than needs, but I`m fine with it. THEN he finds there is less money around than he thought and he blows at me. It was ugly. THEN he discovers (after I challenged him) that he spent even more money on his bike hobby during this last year than I spent on yarn. The whole thing was so demoralizing. We`ve arranged to get away for a few nights next week in Tofino. Clearly we need that.

RE: Halloween costumes
DS2 (age 9) found the one homestitched Halloween costume I ever made, the ubiquitous stuffed pumpkin with leaf and stem hat the other day. (I think DS1 wore it about 11 years ago) He wore it all around the house and thought he was quite funny. The phone rang this morning and it was a neighbor across the street who was planning to borrow a Halloween costume from another neighbor who actually had hers organized by pictures. Apparently the picture she had when her twins were Candy Corn had DS1 in the middle in his pumpkin and toddler is now escewing candy corn in favor of pumpkin. I laughed when she called me for the pumpkin because there is No Way in He!! I would have known where it was if DS2 hadn`t had it out goofing around in it. So Daryl, keep track of those costumes, they may be a valuable commodity some day.

This week`s knitting goals:
1) finish seaming and weaving ends on sensational shirttail
2) finish Kiri
3) distribute the 3 (count `em 3) baby sweater/hat sets I made last week while getting over my spat with Kiri

Amy, I have 3 balls of lavendar. If I run out, the last border will be in a different color-so I will know by the end of the week, I think.

I have some Taj. I forget all the colors, but let me know if you run short. I may have what you or Amy need for a Swallowtail.

Mucho sympathy for the marital stresses. We don`t fight often, but it is so exhausting when we do. I hope you can get a couple of days to yourselves.

Working away on cable scarf #3 is the top priority. I have another fast, easy Mistake Rib charity scarf going, plus a lacy scarf in Baby Silk. And somewhere in there I want to spend time with Highland Triangle, so I have it to wear these frosty (LA-standards) mornings.

Working on my second green sock made from Fall Fiber Festival hand painted yarn. And a French Girl pattern for a shrug in Rowan Big Wool. It had better be perfect.
