I lost my own kitty this morning (not the foster kitty in the garage). She came home from the stay at the vet`s last night and wasn`t herself. Not eating special treats that she loves. I slept on the floor with her.
I took her in this morning and an xray discovered that she had a fast-growing tumor, so I let her go. It was very hard, and I wailed at the vet`s. Still don`t have it together, and a sure as heck don`t want to teach today (later this afternoon). Just so sad. She was 13.

My very deepest sympathies to you, Emily. I`ve been there, and know the stunned pain well.
I cancelled my lessons. I just figured it wasn`t fair to my students, nor the memory of my wonderful little companion. You truly have my sympathy.

I`m so sorry to hear about your cat. I feel your pain. I lost my sweet Sadie more than 2 years ago at the age of 20, and just writing this to you makes me tear up. I have two more now, but I still mourn her loss. Our pets are more than pets, they are such a part of our lives. Take care.

Emily, that is the hardest thing any pet owner has to do. We`ve done that for our own furry-foots when it has become time to let them go. You have my deepest sympathies.

Oh, Emily, I`m so sorry about your kitty. Even knowing you did the right thing for her doesn`t help at all. I still miss every single one of my cats and dogs that have died. I`m not surprised you don`t feel like teaching today, you`ve lost a family member.
Hugs, Benne

emily dear, you haven`t lost a pet. You have lost a much loved member of your family. Small wonder you feel as you do. Even though it hurts like heck, you did the right thing. Letting go is the hardest thing any of us is ever asked to do. Take care of yourself, my thoughts go out to you Peace emily

I`m so sorry for your loss emily. we are given the awful responsibility of making those decisions for the creatures we love and even tho we understand that its the right thing to do..it still causes us the pain of grief and loss. be gentle with yourself and do lots of selfcare over the next several days to weeks. may you receive some comfort from the support here and at home.

Dear Emily,
I am so sorry about your beloved cat. I, too, know all too well the pain of such a loss, and have slept on the floor with my ailing cats. It breaks my heart. We are all sending you our love.

Thank you all. It does hurt like heck. She was a very timid soul, but she trusted me. Catsitters and guests almost never saw her, as she was such a timid creature.

I am so sorry for your loss also. I lost one of my dear kitties to cancer a couple of years ago. I have another one now with kidney failure that I will have to make the decision about soon I am afraid. It is the hardest thing to do but the kindest thing for them as well if they are suffering. You gave her a good life and she loved you to the end.

Oh Emily, I am sorry you had to make that choice. It`s such a difficult decision, but I believe you made the right choice. Pets should not have to live in pain.

Your kitty gave you love and you loved her. It is a real act of love to let them go when it is time but no less sad. You have my genuine sympathy for this loss. Cate

Oh Emily how sad for you, but you did the right thing. Letting go is so hard and no other pet will replace her. She had a good long life. Perhaps that is why the "kitty in the garage" was sent to you.Someone knew your baby was sick.

I`m so sorry, Emily. I know the pain you`re experiencing. My beloved cat died a year ago this past August at the age of 18. Even though the pain of losing him was heart-wrenching, I am so very thankful that I was able to be with him when he slipped away. My employer was very considerate of my feelings - I was offered the opportunity to take the day off when I relayed the sad news to them. Pets are so much more than just animals to us - they are important members of our family, and we grieve for them just as we would grieve for a person.
