Thanks to everyone for your wonderful b-day wishes. Les, I love cheesecake and ice cream cakes as well!
I have a lot to tell you all about my birthday weekend. It started on Friday with a well deserved day off at home alone. I made it a mission to finish my windows coat!
Unfortunately, when I sewed up the side seams, stitched down the pockets, knitted both front bands, I decided to try the coat on and HORRORS of HORRORS I discovered that one front was three inches longer than the other front and the back!!! My good friend and knitting buddy counted my rows for me (I was too distraught) and I had 16rows longer.
Soooo, I had to rip out the hem, one front band, and unstitch the pocket, and rip the side seam up to the sleeve. I did this on Friday. I spent Saturday and part of Sunday finishing my beautiful coat and it now fits perfectly! As I was finishing the last few rows of the collar rib, I actually felt sad to be finished with this project. Does anyone else relate to this feeling?
My office manager has a digital camera and I am going to try and take pictures to post here so you can all see this coat. My friend says with global warming, this should be the last heavy coat I knit. She could be right!
BTW, I have been very busy at work. My office has been asked to help out with mental health professionals to meet the Lebonese/Americans at BWI airport. So, I haven`t had time to keep up with all the posts. There has been a lot of wonderful knitting going on here. Bets, AmyQOY, Jayne, SK, SandraD, Presiouspups, Grace and Gail you have all made such beautiful projects!

Thank you very much for your welcome. I am very excited to be an offical member of the chat room instead of a "lurker". I will try to post pictures of my knitting soon. You can see pictures of my silk painting at www.silkbijoux.com. This is my company and that is what we do.Amy,I asked my sister to send me Marie Claire Idees, your comments picked my interest. This way it will be easier to translate, but I am still waiting for the magazine. Again thank you very much Nicole

Again, glad to have you, Nicky!

Hey knittynicky, so glad you`ve de-lurked. I think you and I started posting on the same day last May or something, and then you disappeared for a bit. Good to have you back. Looking forward to seeing your knitting.

Those prayer shawls are absoulute works of art. Your work is beautiful. I love the colors in the scarves, particularly the earthtones. You have painted the colors I love to knit.

Thank you all for your support. It was a very hard day; I even forgot--totally forgot--to go to my weaving class. Now, totally forgetting a chance to play with yarn? That`s serious.
I still have two lovely cats at home, plus a foster kitty, and I will always have critters. There are too many critters to too few good homes, and I know that mine is a good one.
Anyway, thanks again for the support.

Just to say hello and to thank everyone for their advice. I`ve decided, just to be safe, to order two more balls. Will keep you posted. I love working with this yarn and I guess I like tiny stitches. LOL

Thank you Ann for providing us all the beautiful yarns to knit and wonderful place to chat. Thank you all chat members for the encouragement. Thank you Benne for first introduce me to HW(She sent me a little skein of HW color butter and 98 pieces of HW color sampler). Benne told me that HW is a beautiful yarn that I must have and she is right. SK

SK and other shawl knitters - If Sun Ray was done in a DK weight what happens - it`s just smaller? Is there a way to make it as big as the worsted weight finished shawl?

Donna: just knit the repeat once or twice more, or to desired length. SK

SK, your design is so beautiful, it really does look like the sun`s rays. I want to thank you for sharing your artistry with all of us. Little did I know that a tiny skein and color samples would bring such beauty. :-}

Thank you, everyone, for the kind words about my Persephone scarf. Like all my designs, it`s really nothing earth-shatteringly new, they`re all just BW-ed or HG-ed, lol.
The scarf feels sooooo nice, I wish I were keeping it for myself, but... T already knows about the scarf. He told me he wanted a scarf in red or green, so I picked up HS in red and green. I asked him which color he would prefer, but didn`t hear back from him. So I just started knitting with the red. About 2 feet into the scarf, he finally gets back to me saying he prefers the red. Whew! Lucky guess on my part. I would have hated to have to start all over again with the green! What drove this scarf is Christmas knitting pressure, I wanted to have it done before Christmas, and I made it with a week to spare. Not bad! :-) Now if only I could get inspired to finish 3 more wash cloths for Christmas gifts..... (one of which I started 2 to 3 months ago, sigh...)
Hmm... wonder what are the chances of T getting the scarf and then deciding he doesn`t really like it.... then I can have it back. ;-) Still don`t know how he will feel about it, I mean the scarf still feels a little more "fem" to me, maybe it`s the narrow width, long length, & the red color. Next time I order more HS, I will have to order more of 5 balls of any color, that way I can make a slightly wider scarf. I always have a hard time figuring out how many balls I need for a project.
BTW, this was my first time knitting with HS, and I love love love love LOVE this yarn. I am looking forward to knitting more with it.
I`m currently knitting with Marly, and omigosh, I love the stitch definition I get with this yarn!!! It`s an "odd" superwash wool, unlike any other superwash wool I`ve worked with and it splits in a funny/different way. I guess I can`t describe it very well.
