Hi Everyone
So far I have received three deposits for September - Lesley, Heather L., and Cheryl. I haven`t put these cheques in the bank yet, as I am waiting for more people. I know it`s summer, but you do need to commit, if you want to come. Sandy has given us a 35% reduction in the rent for the farm because we are knitters, but we do have to have enough people to pay the rent. At $50CDN per day for accommodation, food, and good fellowship, it`s as economical a break from routine as you will get anywhere!!!

I really want to come and so does my Mom but I need to find someone who can do respite for me. I have a special needs son. When do you need the deposit by. Also about the fair is this a place where we could sell crafts. My Mom and I sell at craft markets all summer so we would be intersted in a table if that is possible. Could you let me know about that. I live on Quadra Island, not too far from Salt Spring. Shelley shelmack@telus.net

If you are flying from an American city, Vancouver is the best flight destination. Not many flights into Victoria from US, but you can sometimes find a bargain if an airline is trying to fill a plane.
If you are close to the Canadian border, consider Westjet - they often have seat sales on line.
If you like train travel, whichever side of the border you live on, look into the train passes - Via and Amtrak have combination ones. My son is going Vancouver to Halifax and back on a two week pass to see the country. Sleepers include meals.
Keep planning!

I know some of you have already booked in for September on Salt Spring, but if you are seriously thinking about coming and haven`t said so, would you let me know. I`m already getting requests from non-elann people who have heard about us. I want to be sure that elannites have first choice.
Thanks Alice Salt Spring Island

Hi Alice, I`m hoping to come. I need to put in a request for an LOA from work. It will be the same as last year(coming on Wed and leaving on Sun.) Could you please tell me the exact dates again so I can be sure when I fill in the forms. Thanks, Heather

Hi Alice
Maureen and I (and I`m hoping a couple of others) will be coming for at least the Friday to Monday. I`ll try to get the others to make some kind of decision this week.
Can`t wait to see you the end of June!

OOH, with all you Elannites to meet, I`m sorry that I can`t come in September. But I`m really looking forward to the Cables group next month. DH has chosen an allover cable pattern for the vest I`ve promised him, so the class is right on topic for me. I`ve posted a picture of my swatch for this, in HW Dusty Teal - LOVE the color!!

Oooh, I`m getting jealous. East Coast to west coast is more than I can handle at this point. I considered it a major achievement in weaning that I made it to the MSWF and left the girls behind for the day. I`m beginning to realize who has the separation problems, and it isn`t the small ones. Someday I will make it to Saltspring, baby steps. Still trying to get myself to Boston to see my dad while he is on the East Coast, I already blew the cheap plane fares while procrastinating. Daryl

Dates are any nights between September 11 and the 18th - for departure on the 19th from the farm. Overflow can sleep at my house at same price. If due to travel arrangements, you need to come earlier or stay later, my house is an option.

Where do you live? Maybe you could join up with someone coming from near you. Or perhaps you could stay over with someone en route.
If you fly into Vancouver, there`s regular float plane service to Salt Spring. Likewise from Seattle - Naomi can tell you more about that route. Would DH like to come too? He could play golf, go fishing, hike, kayak, etc.

Hi Alice I am in Virginia, about as far from you as can be. No DH isn`t interested in going. He is devoted to his lawn :-)You need to reseed in the fall or debug or something. And to think grass grows wild in nature ;) From here I would need to fly to Chicago and change planes. DD was in Vancouver last summer so I remember the changing planes stuff. Then on to Vancouver and onto you. A long trip only because of the stupid heart problems. I tire easily. You are such an enabler Alice
