Cheryl, hope you had a happy birthday! Wishing you a good year ahead, too :-). I just finished 1/4 of the mitered square vest, and finding it fun, the knitting project of choice among my other WIPs!

Thanks Benne... I put up my watercolors for a bit, and have hauled out my oils and trying to get a number of them done.. they take a lot longer.. I also plan to exhibit skeins of hand spun / dyed yarns and custom framing as art... Hoping that once I get my shoulders fixed, I might get back to being able to do that again!

Oh, you gave me a good laugh...Google Translate is OK for some short expressions or sentences, I guess. I was born and grew up in Portugal, but have lived in beautiful, if crazy, California, as a proud American most of my adult life.
In my previous post I was wondering if the gallery had a web site where we could take a look at your work when the exhibition starts - you know, drool and be proud...

I wish I was fluent in another language... I speak some German, but far from fluent! I think Portuguese is difficult... Matt is not finding it very easy to pick up either! I don`t think the gallery does have a web site... Maybe I will try to take some pictures and if they turn out will e-mail them to you!!?? But I am here painting away... Just taking a break to clean my palette and brushes. My oil tangent (I`ve been doing water colors) is a trial to see if I really want to invest in all the supplies to really get involved... I`d like to be able to make my own paints using pure powder pigments. Supplies for oils are just so much more complicated and an oil painting takes sooooo long to finish. There are pros and cons. We will see.....

Cheryl, as much as I would like to admire your work, I don`t want to increase your workload. Looks like you are busy but having fun - you are so talented!
Marta
Oh, languages - the grammar in Portuguese - and other Latin-based languages, for that matter - is much more complicated than in English, and of course there are some sounds that are very different. My own children, who grew up hearing them at home (we always thought it is an advantage to be exposed to more than one language, even if we were not totally strict about making them speak it all the time) have trouble with pronunciation. But give Matt some time - he`ll pick it up. And it will go much faster if he is not too self-conscious and afraid of making mistakes - better laugh them off...

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I had a great bday. We spent a few days up at Lake Tahoe, and I rode on the Gondola at Heavenly for the first time - wow, breathtaking view from the observation deck up there!
Sorry I haven`t been around here as much lately. I`ve traded in my computer time for more reading time.

Ah ha! I think I just figured out that the chatsite does not like to post mesgs with two consecutive dashes. But one dash, is ok. :-)

Sounds like a great birthday and I`m all about doing more reading these days!
I just read a great book called Little Brother by Cory Doctorow. It`s heavily inspired by 1984 and even more frightening because it`s set NOW and with Gitmo and Patriot Act... tells the story of a 17yr old who`s suspected of being a terrorist and is treated as guilty not innocent til PROVEN guilty.
