Hi everybody,
thanks for all the kind words.
this was fun to make I`ve been cleaning my stash and I had this cotton not sure what it is but ,I have the 365 days stitch calender and wanted to try and use it so I liked the look of the staghorn cable and just went for it. the little cable on the side is just a 4 st cable that I think I crossed every 4 or 6 rows.

MacChick, this wasnt done in the round or top down but I would like to try doing that one day.

I greatly appreciate your advice and concerns. After I posted I made some saurkraut perogies....they are a polish dumpling and are very very good and froze most of them so I will have them later. I shoveled show and cleaned out DH`s closet (well organized it) I had no idea that a man could have soooo many clothes. He had stuff that`s 10 yrs old and that doesnt fit...can you believe that? And he decided to keep it!!! AAAAWWW How frustrating is that? Anyway it was sentimental stuff from his fraternity in college. So I guess its OK. That was for my sanity.

For fighting back I filed for unemployment. DH told me to do it and that work was just stalling. Even though they never actually told me that i`m fired or laid off they did tell me not to come in to work when I was available. So that by definition is being unemployed and whether they like it or not I`m owed a weeks unemployment. Then on Monday and Tuesday I went around to all of the businesses in the area and gave them my resume as well as putting my resume into a staffing company. So here is the good news..... I have an interview with the staffing company on Wednesday at 10 am...YEA I`m hoping that they actually have a job in mind for me. So I`m keeping my fingers crossed.

What I was really concerned about at the current job is the hospital bills and if they were going to have the ins pay them but I found out that they were all paid and we are in the clear on that. So honestly i`m not concerned in the least about this stupid job which is run by a spinless bully. As DH said "I know that you will find a better job closer to home" And whoever said it (Sorry I forgot) I have been using the time away from Karolyn to go out and get my resume out which I never could have done with out a babysitter.

Anyway thanks again for all of your support I greatly appreciate it.

I`ll let you all know what happens.

I`m glad things are better today! Keep your head up and things will work out fine. Like your husband said you`ll find a better job closer to home.

Hi Libby,

I`m so glad you`re feeling better and things are looking better today. I`m also glad you filed for unemployment. After reading all the posts again today, I find I agree with MacChick and Daryl and those who said, do what your heart tells you. I want you to be compensated and for them not to get away with it, but I also think you`re a valuable employee and if you decide to work, there is an employer out there who will treat you right. And closer to home.:-}
Take care of yourself, be good to yourself, luxuriate in your time with Karolyn and know we`re all behind you.

Yes, good to know that things are looking better.

MacChick wrote about her experience in a very vivid way and I feel sorry for her that the big company took time away from her and was able to do something illegal and get away with it. My employer also did something illegal and got away with it, but I chose to walk away. I should have also added to my story that even leaving took a LOT of time away from very important things in my life. It`s a really painful thing to go through, as you don`t want the bad guys to win.

I guess I never knew before that experience that the law sometimes means diddly squat, even though the law is on your side. We`re in a climate that`s not friendly to employees, and it appears to be getting unfriendlier.

I would urge everyone who is concerned to visit the National Employment Lawyers Association website called www.workplacefairness.org to understand more about the situation and what you can do (vote! write your congresspeople!) to improve things. The collection of information called "Shortchanged: America`s Workers are Giving More and Getting Less" is particularly informative (and scary).

Good for you for feeling better.

But filing for unemployment doesn`t hurt your employer one bit -- you`ve been paying unemployment taxes on your income, and when you file, the money comes from the state (check out your paystub; you`ll see the deduction for SUI). What they owe you is SEVERANCE pay, not your unemployment checks which you are legally entitled to and have paid for yourself (your employer contributes as you are paid, not when you are laid off).

Good luck,

Amy

Libby I am happy that today is a better day for you. I have seen first hand what these kinds of things can do to a person, having been through something like this with DH. His self esteem hit rock bottom and no one should have to feel that way because of someone else being underhanded! Keep you chin up and do what you feel is right for you! But most importantly do not let it keep you down, because then they do win!

So glad things are looking up for you! And it sounds like it worked out for the best, Karolyn at babysitter`s, giving you a chance to work on a future job instead of being at bad work situation. It does seem best to turn a new page and let that old company go, it is their loss! Also, what a relief that hospital bill is taken care of, those costs have just skyrocketed since my babies were born.

Dear Libby,
I realize I came into this late but I`m so sorry for the grief your employer is giving you right now. What a putz! I`m so glad that you are taking these lemons and making lemonade. Going out and talking to other employers and a staffing agency. WAY TO GO LIBBY!!! And you did it all without chocolate! Even if you didn`t you did go out there and do something pro-active. I hope you have great success with the staffing agency and the other resumes you dropped off. And just enjoy this little bit of extra time with your beautiful wee one!

Thinking of you

Thanks again everyone.

I got some great news this morning!@!! I`m sooo excited. I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW, I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW, I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW (singing and doing the happy dance!!! I droped my resume off at this place up the road from home and they said that they wernt hiring but would take my resume and they guy called this morning saying that they had a position opening up with in the next 2 weeks and if i was interrested? I said yes and we scheduled an interview for monday!!! YEA!!! Also the staffing company called and I have an interview with them on wednesday. Its just a breath of fresh air that I have options and I dont have to return to work for "that bad company" (I have been calling them other things but this is the nicest thing that I can say about them currently). Furthermore DH looked on the Unemployment website and if they (bad company) offers me less than 80% of what i`m currently making I dont have to take the job and can still claim unemployment.

OH and on the unemployment thing. We looked up for the state of Michigan and the employer pays the first 2 weeks of unemployment and then after that the state will start paying for it.

On a lighter subject. K is doing wonderful and I have been teaching her to knit through osmosis....I`m hoping that it works....I have been putting her in my lap and then knitting while holding her. I`m currently working on a poncho using Orlov by Beauton D`Or. I love this stuff. Its very chunky and knits up fast on 15s. Now I understand what Michelle means about using turkey basters! LOL goodness gratious they are huge!

Oh Libby I`m so very excited for you!! How amazing is that. Right down the road! YAY!! I`m doing the happy butt shaking dance for you. Unfortunately my dogs aren`t too happy with my version. They are showing me how it`s done. I`ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

But turkey basters is Benne`s term... let`s give credit where cedit is due! I`ve never actually knitted on or even personally touched needles that big!

Thank you everyone for the complements. I used Pachuko two years ago on a poncho (which still has not sold - I think due to the price tag). You can see it at the archives. All the credit goes to Macchick. She gave me the directions for the original poncho and I still follow her advice. I used #8 needles to open up the lace more. The yarn calls for #6. I hope it sells. I need $$$$.

As far as baby ducks go - no babies. The kids were playing one day with the dog near the incubator and accidentally unplugged it. When I found out it was already down to 70 degrees. I guess that did them in. But I was hopeful about the biggest egg but alas it did not hatch either. I cracked two eggs open and they had little babies in them but it looked like they stopped developing right around 2 weeks (the time the incubator got unplugged). We`re gonna try again in the spring when my campbells are laying. This time we`ll do the whole thing full - 50 eggs. I figure that way if I get a 50% hatch I`ll still have 25 babies. I`m thinking about buying a egg wash that`s suitable for market eggs and disinfecting incubating eggs. What do you think?

Thanks everyone for the support - I left the hospital today and am staying with my daughter. Everything went well and looks good so far - Dr. said not to celebrate quite yet as we still have to get the pathology report but from what he could see it looks good.
Bad thing... they don`t want me on the computer or knitting!!! We`ll see. A little can`t hurt me too much.
DS said the new kitten is getting very friendly. The cats where I am staying are beautiful long haired cats - the one is with me all the time and wants attention, even in the middle of the night and will head butt you till you pet her - and if you put her out of your bedroom and close the door she will sit and scratch on the door to come in! Good thing I love animals...

Oh, Cheryl, I`m so glad the surgery is over and you are doing so well. When you get home you`ll have your own kitty to demand all your attention. :-}

We`ve been sending prayers your way; you are such a strong person! Had to laugh when I read "they don`t want me on the computer or knitting," and the first thing you do is run to the computer and confess that you intend to do a little knitting!
