Hi
It`s been a wonderful week, ten days actually, with great people here on Salt Spring. I hope everyone learned something new as well as having a good time. They all pitched in and helped with the chores, then knitted like crazy.

Ann and her husband and son came over from the mainland for Sunday afternoon. She was rather bombarbarded with questions, but everyone was so pleased to actually meet her in person. It was wonderful of them to come - fortunately the sun was shining so it was a beautiful ferry trip through the islands.

General concensus is that we do it again next year, same time, same format, everyone brings some WIPs, gets help, gives help, and has a relaxing time.

I`ll say......it was great! So much fun!
I made my way over to SP with my "naughty dog" suitcase, you know the old kind with the leash! It was overstuffed, as usual, and unbenounced (sp)to me, the ball bearings had rusted so the effect was like getting the grocery shopping cart with the wonky wheel which all of a sudden stops! then the suitcase would fall over. I`m sure I was a sight, talking and cursing to my suitcase! I was so pleased to arrive at the lovely and charming log house at Sunset Farm. Gorgeous pastoral location with a wonderful view of the strait and Vancouver Island.

Met the six great knitters (among them,Heather L. and CLK (Cheryl)from this site)and forged new friendships. Gave a start to 3 new projects and worked a bit on my Uros sweater which was my first Elann purchase last year! Maybe I`m just trying to savour it! LOL

Alice and DH Mark are wonderful and generous hosts catering to our every whim! Alice is as masterful in the kitchen as she is with the needles (absolutely wonderful meals)and I`m afraid she didn`t get as much knitting done as she would have liked to as we were always seeking her expertise!

Meeting Ann, Bob and son Lee was such an added treat as well. I hope they got a kick out of meeting the people who think so highly of them! They probably didn`t realize that they had such cult status! It turned out to be a great day for their travel through the islands.

I also met with my old buddy whom I met in grade 6 and hadn`t seen since my 20`s! She lives on a nearby island! We just picked up where we left off and mosied around the island and checked out some of the artist studios one day. Lots of talent on the island.

I could go on..........but you`ll have to check it out yourself!

Eileen, Theresa and Benne - there were some water towers lurking in the forest at the farm!! LOL! I didn`t notice the pair the first day, but the second day, there they were, hiding in the forest of SP. They were maybe about 15 feet high or more and cylindrical. Very short stubby legs - if they had any at all!!
What is it about these knitting gatherings and water towers??

Les, I`m convinced there is some sinister element at work here with these stalking watertowers. ;-} Perhaps the force behind them wants to learn to knit or devours wonderful fibers? We must not let our guard down!

RE: water towers. I`d like to think that they are protecting us, but the one is MD is more ominous that friendly. Thanks for the report, Les and Alice. Hope to see you next year. Jamie
