Remember "April showers mean May flowers?" Well, apparently we`re going to have June flowers, as we`ve started out May with 5" of rain!

Gorgeous day here as well. Just discovered why we use the phrase "silly goose". On the highway into the city there are some mature poplar trees that has a years old nest - one of those massive things with ad-ons eash year. This year it is inhabited by a Canada goose. She sits there with her head held regally on her loooong neck, keeping her eggs warm. She is about 30 ft. up there and in the median with 2 lanes of traffic and a posted speed of 90km/hr. She is the "laughing stock" (now where did that phrase come from?) of the countryside. I just don`t want to be there when those goslings are ready to leave the nest. Les

It`s nice here... the heat wave finally broke (it was literally melting the candles in the house... we were setting new heat records that hadn`t been challenged since the 1800s!) and the wind finally left (took down a few hugely tall trees, one of which ripped a swamp cooler off the back of the neighbor`s house and mangled it beyond repair, but DH already helped the landlord get and install a new one for the neighbors).
And the flowers (mostly cactus flowers!) are blooming a bit ahead of schedule this year.

We had some light rain but basically pretty weather. I was indoors though, at the horse expo (not) selling my jewelry. I passed up the MD sheep & wool festival for this - wah! Very nice people & show but no customers. Next year I am coming to Maryland, by hook or by crook <g> But I did get quite a bit of knitting done on my scarf to use up the leftovers from my Deerhound scarf. Of course, I am running out of yarn and am going to have to buy more to make the scarf long enough - so much for leftovers ;-) Cate

Happy May Day to you too Heather! It`s a big deal here in Germany. The weather was very rainy yesterday. Today we got enough of a break that we rode our bikes down into the Marktplatz for ice cream. Ahhh... I think Spring is really here to stay...
Peace, Jean Ansbach, Germany
