Hahoo!! I have finished a sock out of some Socka yarn! Had to rip back the toe as I didn`t end up with an even number of sts. I had to do some heavy thinking to get back on track as I had put the danged thing aside, but I did it!! Thought I might have to fly off to Maryland Festival for some help. You guys are so lucky!! I am now starting on the cuff of the next sock. Am knitting with what feel like toothpicks in a very tiny sized bamboo. Next pair will be definately in a larger gauge. Les

Just get on a plane and meet us there. I know Theresa is a sock expert since DS Tim has lots of sock ideas. I`m sure you must need some onhands instruction from her.:} Benne

Come out to the coast with your sock, it`s closer! Are you knitting on 2 circular needles? Much easier, quicker, and safer. When you need to drop the knitting, you just push the stitches to the middle of the cables and let go. I knit two pairs about every three weeks on the ferry and when I`m reading on campus. I now have one of my classmates (much younger than I) doing hers on two circulars, and she`s taught her friends in their knitting group. When I`m teaching the technique, I call one needle Annabel and the other one Beatrice, Annabel`s stitches stay on Annabel and Beatrice`s on Beatrice. Some colour code the needles so they can remember who is who. E-mail me if you need more directions. trueman@uniserve.com

Alice,
I love it that you name your needles. Are Annabel and Beatrice named after anyone? I thought of Annabel Lee (Poe`s lost love) and even though the spelling is off, Beatrix Potter (one of my faves, a fascinating woman, I`ll bet she knit too):} Benne

Alice, You have two circulars of the same size. Right? Are they the same lengths? One 16", one 24"? Would those boxes of interechangeable needles/cables work? Or would you have to have two box sets? I don`t skimp on my yarn accumulation by I`m less gracious when it comes to needles. Do you know the one circular technique for socks? (Now that`s my cheap skate style!) I think it requires a 40"(!) circular. Just wondering. And congrats to you, Les. Larger gauge socks are faster, but they tend to crowd the feet when shoes are applied. Nancy Wilmington, NC
