Okay, I read the thread on the other white lies post. I think the lingerie patterns are very cute BUT..... since they are knit will they have any um..... "support". I`d hate to spend all that time on something I think will turn out cute and sexy only to have everything "kinda droopy".
Do you think Baby silk would work on either of the lingerie patterns?

YAHA! There is something I have known about for years, and only recently seen at a reasonable price - bra cups made of adhesive backed stuff - you literally stick-em-on... On a less potentially painful note, although I know some knitters are real purists, if I were to make one of these, and then found that it did not hold where holding was called for, I would line it with the flesh-colored elastic net used in things like skating and dance costumes...I`d even throw in an underwire if I had to (well, two underwires, to be technical about it). To me, they are that gorgeous - underwear so lovely I could never, ever, afford to have it made FOR me. The other option, of course, is to wait until my chin is sagging so badly that my DH won`t notice anything else that may be droopy...

And the 3rd option....you know how you must always lay knitwear flat, because it loses its shape and bags on a hangar? `Nuff said. B

That all-in-one WL lingerie piece - I think it`s called Nicole? - apparently has built in supports. That`s what the blurb on the website says anyway. Sure, what are you worrying about???
A) Ron will be too busy looking at your dazzling smile `cos you`ll feel so good in it
B) You`ll be lying down anyway, and everything looks better when you`re horizontal!! LOL ;-)
Eileen.
PS If any little Pawlowski-Greenbergs girls were to result from this lingerie, I really think you owe it to WL to call her Nicole... heeheehee

I got in the Cotton / tencel I ordered and yesterday I got in the kit from White Lies with the black and rasperry and pattern. I`m a little dissappointed with the black yarn she sent (hand dyed) - it`s more charcoal gray than black. So I guess I`ll use the cotton tencel which is a true black. I have 1/2 a sleeve on DS fisherman sweater to finish then I start swatching a bit of the lace pattern before I start the actual Nicole. I`ll let you know how it goes. Of course, I`ll have to start another project to take with me to the ball field to work on - I can just imagine the raised eyebrows if I`m working on lingerie at the little league field! lol!

Corinna,
You can always send the yarn back if you`re not thrilled with it. After all, you want to love the color with all the work that goes into it.
I don`t know, I think it would liven up the stands if you are knitting "little nothings." Of course, DS will never speak to you again if you do. lol

That`s ok, if he does stop talking to you, you can always threaten to tell everyone the skivvies are for him if he doesn`t behave...That ought to get him speaking again! Assuming the kids are rash and fever free - if not, let us know so we can say "poor children, poor mommy" a few times in soothing tones...

Just received the Schoeller + Stahl Summer 2003 pattern book from this site and am making the "undershirt" shown with the S + S Cecil yarn.
If you have trouble finishing the White Lies set, there is the best little jacket (number 9 in the book) for you to knit for the cocktail hour at your anniversary celebration. Model is wearing it, as you should, au naturel. It has a broad v-neck and just two tiny buttons on loops as closures, just across the cleavage. Looks like lovely belled wrists. I don`t think you will have to don the White Lies later on.............. and you may go hungry (in the food sense only!!)
by the way, the pattern book has some great things I wish I could wear but I know my girls will love. Lesley

Kiddies are rash free but we had our consultation with our Ped. today. DH got swabbed yesterday (was feeling bad) and was strep free but got a shot anyway. Today he has full blown flu symptoms. I was swabbed at Ped. office and (gasp) came back positive! I`m either a strep carrier or in the beginning stages of Scarlet Fever. So Doctor (because I can`t take shot because of `cillin allergy)) prescribed omnicef. The strongest antibiotic she could - unfortunately it may have nasty side effects and cost me (get ready) $122.00. There goes my Denise Interchangeables for awhile! (sigh....)
Anyway - I guess it could be worse. We`re hanging in here!

I don`t have to worry now, because they finally got my husband a prescription plan a few years ago, but when small son was quite small and quite often sick they would prescribe INCREDIBLY expensive anti-biotics, and there is nothing to do but just suck it up and pay for them, but ouch, ouch ouch! If I ever here of a decent priced prescription program I will pass on the word...

I just went to the White Lies website and found some new patterns. What do you think of this one http://www.whiteliesdesigns.com/patterns/lcardigans/131.html
Do you think I could use the alpaca if I double strand it?

That design is really pretty -- and Elann even carries it (and as usual has *useful* yarn info :-)... looks like the 18 st/in gauge is either looser for more drape, or measured in the lace pattern. Elann lists it as using worsted-wt 20 st/in yarn, so you can single-strand the alpaca.
http://secure.elann.com/productdisp.asp?NAME=White+Lies+Designs+%23131+%2D+Filigree+Lace+Jacket&Cat=&ProductType=4&Count=16
I`d be a bit worried that the alpaca would tend to grow, though, since it`s not as "sproingy" as wool and this pattern is all lace -- MacChick, you`ve knitted it at looser than stated gauge and in lace, right? What do you think?

And I have blue alpaca under my bed right now! I`m not too worried about it "growing". I have the Casual Cables Cardigan in alpaca and don`t have any stretching problems. But I do look forward to Macchick`s opinion. She`s a knitting goddess!

Isn`t that a gorgeous pattern? It would look great on you Corinna. When I knitted the lace shawl using the Alpaca on a size 9 needle, single strand, it didn`t seem to grow or sag at all. The lace held its shape well after blocking and it was so nice to knit this yarn. Let us know what you decide, it`s an exciting project and I would love to see your version. :-} Benne

I really like it. I ordered the pattern from Elann, it is based on the tried and true vine lace. Very easy 4 row lace, 2 being purl across. Haven`t picked the yarn yet, I have several choices in my stash. I don`t think you`ll need to double the alpaca.

Gorgeous, Corinna. I`m with you, no problems with my Casual Cables. I think the lightness of the lace would be fine in the alpaca. So pretty...

Oh yeah, I bought the pattern as soon as it showed up. You know me, love those patterns. I would love to knit this up. What`s stopping me, you ask? WIPS!! But I`m determined to get everything finished before I succumb to a ME project. Benne
