I recently made an ebay purchase for a Colinette Ab Fab throw. I waited for a day and then sent an email to the seller asking when I could expect shipment. I had only received an automated email telling me that I had won the item.According to the info on the item it would be shipped immediatley upon payment.I used pay pal and expected it to be shipped as promised. As of yesterday I had not received the item so I again contacted the seller informing her that I had not received the item. I was sent an e mail tell me that because I had not bought insurance it was pretty much too bad, and a attachment to the email showing me the post receipt. The whole experience with this seller was not good,so I posted negative feed back.Today I received an email from the seller and this is what she said to me regarding the negative feed back:"I sent you proof that I had shipped your kit - was there really any need to give me negative feedback. The postal service in the US can be delay due to security checks etc. Maybe if your lot knew how to treat the rest of the world you would not be so disliked." Am I being super sensitive about this? Do I not have the right to post negative feed back? I did write back and tell her that I felt her response was inapproiate and I was told that my feedback was unnecessary because she had many satisfied customers and my complaint should be with the postal service. Again, am I being overly sensitive?

oops! I forgot to mention that this purchase was made from a seller in England. I have bought several items from 2 seller who are from England and I`ve never had a problem and I have never purchased insurance.

No, I have not received the merchandise and it has been 3 weeks. I`ve ordered from both England and Canada in the past and it never took longer than 5 days from England, a bit longer from Canada.

Hi-
Well, it may still be stuck in postage. If you didn`t pay for anything beyond surface, it may be a few weeks more. You may have been a little hasty in posting the feedback, but it would have been nice for her to at least PRETEND she was trying to help you.
I would be sulky too.

Hi Patricia, I read your email with interest because I had purchased from same seller one week ago and was waiting on my Ab Fab kit. It arrived today,so I can`t figure out why yours is taking so long. Can it be traced with the postal service over here or over there with shipping #? Good luck with it.

Because it was not insured I was told that it can not be traced. I am upset about the whole situation but I am very disturbed by her comment regarding U.S. and the rest of the world disliking us. I found it very inappropriate. When did you order your kit? Perhaps there is still hope for mine.

Hi Patricia, I ordered my kit on 11/21 and received it today. I too am not happy that politics inappropriately entered into your situation. I sure do wish you luck with your kit. It is an expensive kit and I know you are disappointed that you have not received it.

Is this Bets? Another post on this board (benne) also ordered a kit on the 21st of November and she received it on the 28th.I ordered mine on the 10th. of November. There was only 1 option for shipping, but you did have the option of paying for insurance and I obviously picked the wrong option! As I said before I`ve won items from 2 other vendors from England and did not purchase insurance and had no problems. I am more upset about the political response than not receiving my item.

Hi-
Yes, I can comiserate. But remember when you lived in Europe and the post seemed to take FOREVER? Even now, if you don`t pay for extra, sometimes it takes weeks longer. So wait a little longer-give it 6 weeks by post, THEN call your credit card company.
That`s for the benefit of the doubt, but I had one woman on e-bay whose response made me uneasy, sure enough, she stiffed me. Only one out of over a hundred tho.
More on overseas and the mail---When I was in Germany the first time, I sent a quilt top in to a woman who had an ad in QNM to hand quilt things. She said, no, she didn`t insure it, it`s usually VERY safe. Wonder of wonders, she posted (several years later) an ad for unclaimed quilts(!) So I caught up with her on that go-round, and said, HEY-you lost my quilt, and I paid you, and now you have all these "unclaimed" projects? HAH! She sent me one, but it was garbage, and my previous one was not "all that" but what she sent me was awful. I threw it in the charity bin.
Hoping your package show up, I know you had looked forward to it.

I`ve noticed sellers on Ebay tend to be very sensitive on the subject of negative feedback. I once left a neutral response and the seller responded as if I had pulled out fingernails with pliers. I don`t think your negative feedback was out of line. Her comment definetely was. I have had packages take as long as 4-6 weeks between here and Germany. Maybe you`ll get lucky and the post is just slow.

Hi Patricia,
I am new to the Elann discussions and also an avid eBayer. Yes, it can take longer for items from overseas to get here. The yarn I order from Canada routinely takes 10 days or more to arrive.
There are a couple of things you could try.
1. Is the seller a member of Square Trade (she would have a logo for such on her auction pages)? If so, you can post dilemma to them and they will try to settle with the seller for you.
2. Because you paid through PayPal, you can also file a complaint with them, and they will try to resolve the situation with the seller. I had to do this with a book order that never arrived. PayPal secured the money from the seller, and it was applied as a credit to my Visa account within a few days. They were extremely efficient and helpful.
For future problems, I usually write a neutral letter to the the seller describing the problem and then end it with "What can we do to resove this situation?" I find that the use of "we" and the neutral question posed as a collaborative effort almost always gets me a kind response from the seller offering one or more solutions.
Good luck, and do let us know how everything turns out!

Welcome aboard! Thank you for the tips. I am hoping that the yarn will still arrive. Contact with this seller is not an option for me after the inappropriate e mail that I received from her.

Hi Patricia,
Thanks for the warm welcome. ALso, you`d never have to speak with or write to the seller. That would all be handled, probably anonymously, by Square Trade/PayPal, whichever you decided to use.
However, your patience may yet pay off. I hope the kit arrives soon!
Best,
Lisa

Kit arrived today and it is wonderful, all that I expected and more. I will not be able to make this as a Christmas gift as was my intention. Perhaps I will take a picture of the picture and give the finished product later.

I`ve been an avid eBayer for some years, and have bought yarn (and many other things) mostly from within the US but also from Europe.
It`s pretty well understood that once the item leaves the seller`s hands, if it isn`t insured and doesn`t arrive, then that is the buyer`s responsibility, as the buyer is the one who chose not to insure.
I would not have left negative feedback under these circumstances, but people feel differently about these things. Generally, (in my opinion) negative feedback is left when the seller has misrepresented the item, substituted an item of lesser value or whatever, or otherwise not played it straight and honestly. This person was obviously bothered by the negative feedback, and made unwarranted comments to you, but she was also aware, of course, that the negative feedback permanently damaged her reputation on eBay. It`s a ticklish problem for both buyer and seller.
