I have 8 (Heaven help me!) medium to large plastic storage boxes with yarn more or less sorted by weight (two more extra-large boxes are in the attic). This arrangement helps when I decide what I am going to do so I can check out what is available in the weight I want before buying some more in the right color which happens about 50% of the time. I have never yet had any yarn infestation or deterioration of the yarn with this method, but maybe I`ve been lucky. Most of the boxes are pretty tightly closed and the yarn is not subject to great cold or heat (except for the attic ones, and there`s been no deterioration there either that I can find). The problem, of course, is where to store the boxes, and with that I cannot help you. I live with my 8 boxes in our extra-large bedroom, piled on one another up one wall. This is not pretty, but it is very convenient. Good luck!

Thank you Diana, I took care of all my yarn over the weekend, I purchase large ziplock bags, I had them in the storage boxes before But everytime I wanted something I had to go though every box, The plastic bags show whats in there, Then I stored them by color on a big shelve in the basement. I can see what I have now.

Hi everyone....just wanted to share something with you. I just ordered a 15 piece storage bag set from www.theshoppingchannel.com These are fantastic for storing wool. You can reduce the size of your stash by 2/3 and your husband will think you have a lot less wool. There are 15 of these bags that you fill and then put your vacuum to the seal and take all the air out. They are dirt and moth resistant. And...the best part, all 15 are only $32.88 I have ordered from this retailer many times and they are as reliant as Elann. We all know how good Elann is so why not spend a few bucks on these bags and then buy more wool from Ann. I don`t usually do the advertising for any product but these are just too good to keep to myself. Evelyn

I love Space Bags. I keep spare pillows and bedding in them for my guest rooms. I do find that they puff back up over time, tho`. But they are airtight & bug free & waterproof once stuffed.
