Billie
If you want a hat with all the goodness of wool, like warmth, try the combination of wool and soy. It`s super soft. The one I got was from Patons and it`s 70% wool and 30% soy. It`s not expensive either.
Evelyn

The one inside the other idea...it`s got me thinking of DH`s hat and doing a double-knit idea. I`m thinking about the Harlequin Cap (Elann free pattern) principal with the provisional CO. This hat has really got me thinking...Bob`s not wanting wool because of the itch. Maybe sock yarn is the answer. But I`ve been thinking: with a 3rd piece worked off that prov. CO that is a rolled patterned or cable ribbed band that can be turned up on either of the reversible sides.

I`m trying the technique as we speak :). It`s hard to break the dpn habit `tho. The technique is pretty easy to learn - haven`t got to one inside the other yet - it seems like that is just for ease of handling, once one has some length knit on both socks.
